Stormbringer Classics Jetfire - A tribute to Don Figueroa: B

My next project is dedicated to our very own Don Figueroa. I have always loved Don's artwork, and when he illustrated Classics Jetfire(my all-time favorite Classics mold) in the Stormbringer series I was very excited. Fast-forward 2 years, and now that I finally have read the series graphic novel and got into customizing figures I knew what one my projects had to be... Anyway that's some background on this custom

This repaint took me about 2 weeks. I kinda wanted to suprise everone with this, so thats why there were no WIP pics. The easiest part was the panel lining. I went for a darker, shadowing look as he appears in the comic. I actually used 600 grit sanding film to take off the autobot symbols on Jetfire's wings. The part that was an absolute bitch was color matching the red paint. I used a blend of Tamiya Red, Flat Red, Black, and White. It took about 4 days of mixing and matching to get it. I know I suck.

I took the left over red mix and airbrushed the missile pods. I painted the front of his "head crest" sky blue just like the comic. The barrels are made from styrene tube and painted flat black. Check out this YouTube video for neat little surprise

I haven't seen the comics, but this one looks great! the dark panel lines give it a cartoony, straight-out-of-the-comic-book look. Nice!
