Custom Premium Barricade

Barricade is one of my favorite characters, and although this repaint isn't that spectacular I like the end result so I'm posting it.

And a few extra good looking pictures of barricade are always welcome I think.

fixes:

-More colors on the arms and legs.

_the chest plates (hood of the car) have more movement possibilities so they can give a more round and organic appearance to barricade's body. It also gives the impression that the hood opened for the head to pop out
-Extra custom frontal Chest plate that covers the openings in Barricade's chest and holds the sides of the chest in place.

-Extra shiney finish to make car look more like a car ;)

-Custom headjoint, allowing 180 headspin and up an down movement.
(I created a new headpiece from scratch )

color palette

black, white, marine blue, sliver, light grey, dark grey,

high gloss finish
(I tried to take some pics from this in the car mode... too bad I don't have an original barricade lying around to do a comparison. so I don't really know if you can see it ok)

Yeah we can see the shinyness! One of the robot pics has a reflection of his shoulder wheel on the hood - that makes it obvious! How did you make the neck joint? I'd like my Barricade if his head turned. My fav part of the film is when he attacks Sam so I'm gutted the figure is so crap.

thanks,
His head is made out of two parts, I carefully released barricade's rubber (?) face from the plastic head joint. and then I recreated the back of the head and a neck joint with super sculpey. the neck is just a T-shaped piece, nothing fancy.
the neck joint and head are connected with some sort of screw. It's not very solid but it doesn't fall apart either.

I was going to take a picture of this but for some reason I couldn't get my crap camera to focus correctly

Motip

it protects the new paint very well but the last layer has to be very thick.

That is awesome! Does the head still fit when you transform him into car mode? And, how did you make the hood fold?

I've been very busy the last month, but finally I got around to answering these neck/chest-question with the help of some visual aids. It might be interesting to some of you.

the back of his head is custom, and so is the neck joint.
Image

the neck joint makes the head go to the front and back. and the headjoint allows left to right movement.
The neckjoint is that interesting to look at because it isn't visible in any mode so I didn't take the time to polish it too much

I measured everything so it does not interfere with the transformation.

(A) I've cut away some plastic so that thing in the front folds more to the back and connects with the chest plate. Its not a big mod but visually it does more than I expected.

to fold the chest like this you need to release the screws a bit.
when you do this Frenzy will not fit in there anymore so cut away some plastic so there is a little slot that gives the screw a little room to make the chest plates fold.

Image

The chest piece fits inside the car so everything stays together.
I hate it if there are pieces that you have lying around, I end up losing them.

Maybe this was more for the kitbash forum,
but I hope this helps or inspires anyway.
