The Energon Pub

Inspired by Shinobitron's repaint of TFA Cybertron Mode Optimus Prime into Kup, I decided to try my hand at it. This was my first repaint, and I think I learned a lot from the process. Since I used these forums to learn how to do a repaint, I thought I would share a few photos here!







Pardon the dirty cutting board I used as a backdrop. I'll be working on my photography setup soon.

I took the figure almost entirely apart and cleaned off the previous paint with isopropyl. I also did a bit of a re-sculpt on his head using Nick Roche's "Spotlight: Kup" version to give him a little more detail. I learned a lot from the process, and I hope my next repaint goes even better than this one

That is awesome stuff Brychanus you should be very proud of yourself.. as Trikeboy said, you captured Kups personality perfectly.. Well done!!

Wow.. this possible preview of botcon Kup redeems he fact it's not wreckers.. and if botcon does go this route, it looks like the set may be worth it after all. Botcon, pay attention to fans like this, pleaase.

really though great custom, awesome new head! I really hope we get that this year, and other thoughtful repaints.

My fingers are crossed for the Botcon set too. Thanks for all the support. Here's hoping my next project goes this well!

Do you know what your next project is going to be yet?

I think I'm going to try to kitbash Springer next. I've got a soft spot for the old movie gang, and I've got a theory or two about how to make him a triple-changer. I'll report in with progress once I get going on it.

By' kup' do you mean springer?

The paint on Kup looks greener in these photos than it really is. I went slightly greener than I might have so he'd look different enough standing next to Blurr. The Springer kitbash I'm doing will be much greener than Kup.
