ROTF Leader Prime Repaint

I know repainting the new leader class Optimus Prime is a pretty common thing to do, and there are hundreds of pictures all over this site of him being customized by TF fans. However, I wanted to post up a few pictures of my own work in progress. He isnt one hundred percent complete, and I've already put eight or nine hours in him. Nothing I've done is really original, just more of the same, but I still hope you all enjoy the pics anyways. I have this guy, leader megs, and Voayger Ironhide, I'm new to collecting Transformers, so naturally this is my first ever paint job. Any advice or suggestions are welcome. I'm sorry I know my Optimus isnt anything spectacular compared to many workings out there. I'm still planning to do the fuel tanks, air filter housings, and air compressor tanks a realistic chrome by taking the parts off and using my airbrush. All I've done here in the pictures was done with fine brushes. Thanks for looking!

Actually you have done quite a job. The one thing I have to say though is that the axes are silver in the wrong places as far as movie accurate goes. But if you like them you like and thats what matters in the end.

Wecome to Seibertron! It's nice to see these pics but if you've seen other repaints here you must also know you've posted it in the wrong forum. It should be here!

Anyway, it's nice to see the blue bits on the feet - the only other repaint with that detail I've seen so far is my 07 fig. The details look great, but the whole thing might look better if you learn about drybrushing!

I actually didnt realize at first there was a specail repaint forum, is there a way I can move this thread there? I have heard the term drybrushing before, is there anywhere on here that has an article about how to get started using the technigue? Also, to Optimus Light, I figured his swords wouldnt be completely accurate to the movie, I didnt have a picture to reference off of, I dont think they are too bad looking now but maybe I can find a good picture and fix them to look better. Thanks for the compliments guys! :)

Try PM'ing a Mod and asking them to move it.

This tutorial will get you started on drybrushing - just remember, when doing the drybrushing, less is best. You can always add more later. At the end of this tutorial it says to drybrush varnish over the figure. I'd recommend covering the whole figure cos it'll need to withstand a lot of wear and tear from play!

Just did it, it's like I'm psychic or something.

Nice repaint and welcome to the site!

Thanks for the mod pm! Sorry about the posting in the wrong section part, I got all excited and didnt even bother to think about the repaint forum (duh). I've done some more work to him by using the drybrush method and I'm very impressed, a lot of detail really shows through! Thanks for the kind remarks everyone. :)

I didnt think I had the skill either to be honest. He is my favorite toy posession so I was pretty scared to paint him. I know mine is nothing specail but it really wasnt too bad once I got comfortable.
