ROTF Optimus Prime - with removable swords and custom gun

More than a year after my last custom gallery, I'm back with the new Leader Class Optimus Prime from the Revenge of the Fallen toyline. It's an amazing figure and is definitely my favorite Transformer (and custom I've made) yet!

Without further ado, here are the pics! Click on the thumbnails to view the larger versions. :)

I also did a couple of mods on 'bot mode. I added articulated hands from TFTM '07 LC Prime (thanks to F_R for the idea and his tutorial), and replaced the rubber smokestacks with plastic ones made from ballpoint pen tubes.

Now come the fun part, the weapons! I removed the dual swords and made them attachable with two sets of rare earth magnets each. I tried to emulate the "glowing hot steel" look of the swords in the movie by doing blending with orange and white paint. The gun was made from TFTM Leader Prime's gun and kibble from both the Leader and Voyager OPs. It also attaches very securely with two magnets. I'd love to do a second gun but I still have to find another junker OP to get it from. Anyone from the Philippines have his old, broken TFTM LC OP for sale at a cheap price? PM me. :)

Here is a groupshot of my customized movie autobots, now with ROTF Prime and Bumblebee!

I'd like to say thanks to the following for their help in making this custom possible:
- dreadstar from Cybertron PH for help getting rare earth magnets
- devastator from Transformers Philippines for his junker TFTM LC OP
- Frenzy_Rumble, Encline, and Sabby of the Radicons for their inspiring paint jobs and mods on this mold
- SpurtReynolds for his blending/highlighting tutorial, which I tried to do for the dual swords

Thanks for looking and I hope you liked it!

It looks nice, but his arms look to far from his body. Maybe it's just the angles.

Thanks man. Well I didn't mod the arms so it must be the camera angles on some of the shots. IMO the proportions on the mold are a little off - the arms are a little too big for the rest of the body compared to the CG model.

Well, it's sure is accurate. Simply stunning, for my Bayformers, I prefer a showroom-room-floor shine to the vehicle modes, but even without that I'd easily say this is one of the best Primes I have seen.

This one would definitely be a keeper, you did a fantastic job! =D

Beautiful work! A great mold like RotF Leader OP deserves a great paint job like yours. Thanks so much for sharing photos of this great custom work.

Hm, I must ask, though, just how did you go about removing those God-awful swords off his arms that like to get in the way of everything? Every time I transform my Optimus Prime, I'm always tempted to just yank off the **** for always deploying without invitation.

They are very easy to remove. There are 3 screws on the inside of his fore arms. Remove those and you can just easily take out (and reattach) the entire assembly for his swords.

Thanks pare. Nice to see another Pinoy over here. I traced the flames using a gel pen and sprayed clear coat to hold it in place. The gel pen ink will never really dry and will mess up the surface if you touch it so you need a number of coats. :)

Thanks! This guy takes so much time and effort to paint (took me 2 to 3 months on and off) but it's really worth it once you finish. :)
