Metallic Chrome Paint

Hey guys and girls,

I've got a question. I'm planning on repainting my ROTF Leader Optimus, but can't decide on what chrome paint to use for the front grill, smoke stacks, etc. I was thinking of getting Duplicolor Enamel Chrome Paint. It's used for real cars so I'm just scared it will damage the plastic on my figure. Anybody know if it will or if it's safe? Are there any other alternatives?

Thanks, I appreciate the help.

**Please note that what I am about to say is not from my own experience but merely what I have heard others say...**

Alclad2 lacquer and Alsa are the two that I see used most often. From the research that i have read, Alsa is the superior of the two, however the price certainly reflects that(~$80 for 4oz).

I remember hearing that the Duplicolor chrome still appears somewhat plastic-like once finished. I repeat, I have not actually used it so it may be worth a try.

Also, because it is enamel be sure not to get it on any rubber-like parts as they will not dry. Many artists use enamels on their transformer figures so I would suspect that it would be safe. However, I would certainly try it out on a figure you don't care for. Dollars store transformers ftw...

Hey thanks, Gutter Bunny.

That helps me out quite a bit, especially the part about enamel not drying when applied on rubber. I think I'll try Duplicolor and use it on a dollar store figure. Good idea.
