Nemesis Frame Astray

This could be in the wrong forum, being that this is a gundam repainted after a transformer... but here I go anyway...

So last June at Anime Evolution 2009 in Vancouver, I attended the annual Gundam Model contest. The previous year I was so inexperienced having not built and painted a gundam in many years, so I went into this one with a year of practice and determination... that and a preplanned paint scheme in my head. The end result landed me second place overall in the contest (out of thirty entrants).
Of the thirty First/No Grade models, I chose the Red Frame Astray and set to work.
What resulted I dubbed "Nemesis Frame Astray"

And with a better camera...

So that was all fine and good, and second place was wonderful... but the paint provided at the contest was pretty bad to say the least. an hour after the contest it was already chipping in several areas. I decided, when I got back home the following week, that I would use my own supplies and redo the colours. To make him REALLY Black Convoy-ish (and even to keep him in proper standing with the Red Frame Astray) I still need to make him a sword, but here's the paint all finished, with Decepticon logos so his allegiance can never be questioned.

The Nemesis Prime colour scheme is simply cool and works well and most figures. This is no exception. :)

love what you did there. Personal opinion, but I think the thighs should have been done in gray just to break up the black a bit. (I see you thought the same on the original)

plans to reproduce the project on the PG? :P

Yeah, I was contemplating doing that, If you look closely on the full body shot you can see that behind that black armour on the thighs there is still gray. In exchange for keeping the armour black, I added gray to the shield's frame though.

Now that would be an interesting sight, I've still never even built a PG and don't think I'm quite ready... I mostly collect and build 1/144 scale HG Gundams, with the odd 1/100 HG and a few MGs... but maybe one day?

I too kept seeing the word ashtray and wondered what you were talking about. I also thought it was a pretty dull paint job until I saw the last pictures where the lighting and focus is better and now I see it looks really striking and very cool!
