My first modified custom! Punch/Counterpunch!

So I've done repaints and whatnot in the past, but I've never really gone so far as to actually mod a figure. I thought I'd start with everyone's favourite Sunstreaker/Sideswipe bash, Punch/Counterpunch!

Using Sunstreaker, because a place in town had a few on clearance, and with a cheap airbrush (one that uses canned air as opposed to a full compressor type unit) I sat down at my hobby desk usually reserved for my Gundam models, brought up some visual reference of G1 P/CP and the artwork for the upcoming club exclusive on my computer, and got down to business.

Here's what I came up with:

In vehicle mode with Sideswipe and Sunstreaker

...and the custom plate:

Robot mode: Punch

Posing with Sideswipe and Sunstreaker

Counterpunch:

There's one more step I'd like to do before considering this one "done", I've ordered some rubsigns off of reprolabels.com to add an Autobot one to Punch's chest, and a Decepticon one to Counterpunch's...

So, any thoughts? How'd I do for my first time?

Nice! Good job. I'd buy it if it was the real one but just a few things that I dont like.
1. The "Dbl spy" one the back of the car looks a bit off.
2. Counterpunches head looks kinda strange.
Over all I think you did a good job for your first custom. Keep it up!

Counterpunch's head bothers me in a few areas, and once I get a little more in the way of tools to work with (since I'm working with just a hobby knife and some sandpaper right now) I'm gonna try to fix what I see as some mistakes, I'm not sure if I want to keep the eyes, or make a visor (like G1 Counterpunch had) I know I want to add more to his head crest-y thing, and I know I want to make his partial faceplate look more like one piece.

I see you used the variations on the leg transformations, how do you get the feet to sit straight in the Punch leg mode? And i love everything on counterpunch's head besides the lack of visor.

That was a chore in and of itself, basically I just moved everything around until he looked to be standing straight. The end result has his feet spread out at a wide angle, and his knees almost bending backwards... but it works!

Oh. I thought I was missing something, but apparently I wasn't. I also see a hearty Gundam collection back there. Kudos on that.
