I've been wanting to repaint this guy for ages now. I strated off just deiling some panels and stuff but the more I saw the green , the more I had to do a complete overhaul.. I started off by coating Ratchet in flat black spray and using gray, white and a mixed gray and white to do the hand painted camo, leaving out parts so the flatlack blends well..

Those who have seen my customs on here before know I have a propensity to do things out of the ordinary I always do something that hasn;t been done before (at least to my knowledge ):P I'm thinking the vehickle mode should take about a week or so and then I'm starting on the bot mode.. As always open to suggestions and comment

P.s..I'm also gonna do some custom weapons.. Stay tuned

What is that cannon weap mounted on his roof?

It's the launcher weapon from a 07 movie elita 1 scout.. I have a few different weapons I want to use right now.. Just trying to fond places for them to be stored.. I busted out the dremel to make some custom notches on the botform.. I was looking for some ideas for the bot mode color sceme..

Well I finished the Vehicle mode camo job.. My flat white I was using started thinnning out on me so it's kid of sloppy..I still have to back and cover up some of the nasty green but the patterns are donef or the most part..I'm going to start working on the custom weapons next.. Then his bot mode color scheme..'m kinda iffy as to what i want to do for the scheme but I'm thinking some dark red and dry brushed aluminum with some mild camo patterns placed throughout..

Great job! I'm loving the camo pattern.

I finally got the exterior to a point where i can start on the bot mode.. I was really at a loss as to what color I should use for the highlits of Ratchets bot mode until I glanced over at my 07 Rescue Ratchet the red popped out..I used a darker red so as not to take away from the heavier military paint applications. I also painted some of the custom weapons I'm going to make. I'm going to use the visor like shield that flips over his head during vehicle mode as a sort of a turret with dual cannons. Got some dremel work to do and finish up the bot mode..

Still pretty nice, though I kind of find the big blotches of white camo a bit werid. Will wait for the final product.

I agree.. I did go kind of overboard with the white.. I'm gonna slim it down a tad..

Well the vehicle mode is done! With the exception of the gloss coat I'm done with the mods and the paint..I lightened up the White with some more dark gray, added the custom front mounted blasters which also double as a flip down visor blaster as well in robot mode..The custom cannon on the top is the combo of weapons from a 07 movie scout Elita 1. The inspiration for this project was both Seeing Jungle attack ironhide and a little fan fic i'm writing where the autobots all have a role reversal ( i.e ratchet is the weapon specialist etc etc )

Basically ratchet has had with fixing..He wants to do some destroying!!!

Whoa, that thing is packing mad heat Looks like something out of the GI Joe movie.

Well My new job has really increased in hours so I'm gonna have to call it donez on Ratchet for awhile. He really only needs minor detailingd touch ups but he is 99% done.. Maybe a coat of clear gloss but this bad boy is tired of fixin and wants to do some serious destroying!!!!

Hehe, wow, Ratchet looks like he's serious about getting to work on some Decepticons!

This is like a uber version of First-Aid Ratchet, but only with better paint choices. Very nice!

Thanks for the words!! I really enjoyed this project alot as it was the first time I really " customized" and repainted a fig at the same time.. I think the dark red and dry brushed aluminium work well together.. I'll take some pics with "Destroyer Ratchet" and rescue Ratchet soon for comparison ..

I think you've done a good job on the camouflage - it's a convincing pattern. Your metallic drybrushing is rather uneven though. Perhaps you could try doing thinner coats (brush more paint off the brush before applying to the robot) but more layers. If you're wanting a battered look try doing a coat or two of darker metallic drybrushing then add scuffs with a light silver.
