This is my first repaint. So I was watching Vange1us's review of rotf voyager megatron today and I got to thinking that he would work out as a pretty nice galvatron. So I picked one up earlier today and painted it. It still needs some touch up and needs some more silver and a little bit of orange to even it up a bit. I think it turned out really awesome.

Excellent work and it's your first repaint? I can't wait to see more work from you! The purple and silver really work well on the figure.

Once you add more silver and orange, it will definitely look even better. Rather than go with orange, have you considered using copper paint? It would maintain the orange-ish vibe for the Galvatron colour scheme but also serve to have more depth than an orange paint. In my opinion, metallic colours are very suiting for the movie design aesthetic as it uses a lot of mechanical features.

I thought "yeah yeah, another Megatron with purple paint sloshed on and relabelled Galvatron *yawn*" but I actually like the way it turned out.

I'm not keen on the tank mode - I don't think the wings look right. How about putting purple on the middle strip of the front ones to blend them with the body so they don't look like superfluous extras? I feel they need something to blend them in.

The robot mode works very well! Those are the pics that won me over!

As for Convotron's suggestion of copper paint, this is a good idea but another option is orange drybrushed over silver. You can see how this looks on my Unicron. The orange needs contain more red than you think it needs as it will come out more yellowy when you drybrush it so you'll need to experiment on something first to get the right colour. I find it more satisfying to have mixed my own colours cos it makes it all that little bit more unique! BTW I'm not saying my suggestion is better than Convotron's! It's your choice.

Actually, I like the orange dry brushing over silver better than using just copper paint! It'll give the painted parts more of a weathered look where just using copper paint may be too clean looking.
