The Eternal Glory Of JETFIRE!

It feels like ages since I posted any galleries here. I have a small backlog of projects that I need to photograph.

Anyway...

Leader Class Jetfire is not a very good representation of his CGI but it must have been difficult to design a figure that transforms and combines with another. The character is supposed to have very long thighs but knees that bend back so the ankle is partway up the thigh. The trouble with the toy is that the legs are disproportionately small and the knees are too weak to support his weight and he literally needs his cane to stand. Even then it's touch and go whether he'll collapse. Attempts at strengthening the knees only had minimal effect but as his legs were so pathetically short I extended the range of motion for the knees, avoiding the weakness problem, making him a couple of inches taller and restoring the 'eternal glory of Jetfire'. Next I separated his fingers so they move independently and gave him a neck joint so he can look sideways and down. I can't imagine why someone thought it'd be cool to add a gimmick that makes his head jiggle from side to side when he talks. And yes, the electronics DO still work.

Hasbro employs colour-blind hedgehogs to choose the colours for Transformers. This time these colour-blind hedgehogs, slaving away inside their bag, saw fit to cast a black character in blue. Not only is this just stupid but makes it more obvious that the jet mode is really a plane with a robot hanging underneath and the robot has a plane folded up on his back.

Enough waffle, you want pictures!

Wow! Very good painting! Weathering is perfect, and colors match the real thing. Just one question: Did you alter the figure in any way other than painting? He seems to look a lot straighter and movie looking than just a repaint would do. If not, then you just did a really good paint job!

Thank you - I don't think my creations have been called 'perfect' before! As for your question: go read what I wrote in the first post!
