While not a favorite character growing up (He had what, three lines in the cartoon?) I love it anytime a G1 character gets a better toy. It meant picking up another Sideways, but I have plans for him. Heh heh heh....

Anyway, I wanted pipes to be distinct from his "brothers" Dropkick and Salvage, so I trimmed his head a bit, painted his eye gloss red, and removed his antennae. His arms and legs are aluminum and steel, with black, gray, titanium (Easy mix if you need it: 8 parts silver to 1 part orange) and blue. Also did the usual black wash to the grill, arms and legs.












It was still missing something, so I went to work on the capture claw. Removed the claws and added a bulkhead to attach a couple extra exhaust stacks for my '07 Ironhide (wasn't 100% sure on the scale, so I got two sizes) and leftover Gattling guns from a Gundam Wing Serpent.

Awesome! Love the L33T Speek Licence plate and the actual pipes/machine gun. Why didn't hasbro do that? Claws arent as good as gatling guns IMO.
You could call him Soundwave as well, but pipes is a uniqe idea, since Ironhide was used for Soundwave before.

Actually, the leet plate is stock. I played around with making a PA plate decal, but I couldn't get the scaling right.
