TFA Slipstream and Ramjet

Well, I'm back, with something old and something new!

Image

Slipstream was actually the very first Transformers custom I ever did, before I started doing these 'posters'. I never even showed her jet mode, so I figured she was due for a little attention. I adjusted her chin with an emery board. It took a while, but I've always been quite pleased with the results.

A lot of versions of this character take pains to make the mold more 'feminine'. Frankly, she's already got a tapered waist and 'heels', and attempts to take in the biceps always look a bit goofy to me. In this case I'm more than happy to leave well enough alone.

This one's all new! I used Sunstorm as the base for Ramjet, because they both have a red cockpit window. Genius, right? Well, here's the thing: Sunstorm is cast largely in bright, creamcicle orange. Ramjet is mostly white. This, folks, is what's known as not thinking ahead.

What a pain... Having used the regular Starscream, with his nice, neutral blue-grey previously, I didn't realize just how much of his gears and insides are visible when he's assembled. I had to paint everything, and those colours are not forgiving with mistakes. There are a couple of orange spots I didn't catch until after taking these pictures, but by that point I was annoyed enough with this guy that I didn't bother with another photo shoot. Still, over all I'm pleased with him, in retrospect.

Haha, clones, amirite? Also, men, I guess.

Very nice work on Slipstreams face! I can't tell that was done by hand. You should feel good about the work you've done on both of them.

NICE! I like 'em both, Very true to characters. Although 'Stream needs some "stream"-lining maybe take some bulk off her biceps (I'm pretty sure their not essential to transformation) maybe a bit off the waist. Otherwise they're GREAT!

P.s.

I think your right about the biceps then you have to sculpt down the fore arms too and then they wouldn't be the right size for the chest....well enough alone!

You should've completely replaced Slipstream's biceps. That's the ONLY thing keeping me from wanting to sell my soul for one.

Currently, she looks like the stereotypical battle girl with the muscles and the vague eastern Europe accent. If you shave down or replace the biceps, then the forearm is gonna look like gauntlets and her chestplate like armor similar to the Saiyans from DBZ, which to be honest will suit her more. Same with the upper thighs, but it's much less noticeable.

You could've at least filed down Slipstream's biceps and forearms. :-(

Yeah, she kind of looks like one of those female bodybuilders. Other than that, great figs.
