Betrayed by the ambitious Optimus Prime in his bid to rule Cybertron, Elita 1 was rescued by the giant spiders of Archa Seven, who lent her their strength. Transformed in body and mind, the newly named Blackarachnia swore to protect all life throughout the universe. Recruited into Megatron’s Decepticon resistance by his loyal lieutenant Starscream, she eventually found herself leading a group of stalwart technorganics in defending a primitive world from the ruthless Autobot mercenaries known as the Maximals.



So, hey, remember when I said I was finished with Beast Wars Animated customs? Apparently I'm a big liar pants. This is just a straight repaint, but let's face it, it's something we all wanted to see!

I experimented a bit with making her spider legs orange like her original Beast Wars character model, but ultimately decided to keep it simple. I could have justified the new colour scheme as an upgrade or another clone, but I'm a sucker for alternate reality stuff. Shattered Glass Animated? Sign me up.

Presumably she works with psychologist-turned-conscientious objector Waspinator, who's been constructed from an unbreakable alloy. Nightscream is an unnervingly chipper energon vampire, Rattrap is a brutal pugilist with a twisted sense of fair play and Rhinox is... uh... Tankor, I guess.

Haha, "I, Grimlock", nice! What bizarre timing!

I normally favour the 'clear'-yellow-over-silver method for painting gold, but I wanted a really specific shade in this case, so I went with P3's Solid Gold. I had to use lots of thin coats, but I'm really pleased with the result. The only problem was that every time I made a mistake with the black lines, it'd take a really long time to fix the gold! I know, "make fewer mistakes," right?
