welp, here it is the first of my classics built with a model kit as the alt mode. I got myself a 1/32 '78 corvette. classics mirage will be the skeleton. wings will be modified plastic forks. not sure about the head yet. this will be fully transformable...i hope. I also decided to make two at the same time and see if I can recoup some of my money on this through ebay. anyway, I'll update as it goes. sorry about the quality of the picks. had to use my phone for these.
cheers.

Oooooooo, I like. I see potential. Tracks was always one of my favourites figures as a kid, so it'll be nice to see an updated version (excluding Alternators).
You do this right, I may just have to bid on your second one. What kind of price are we looking at?

I don't want to jump the gun on this. I may end up royally effing one of these up. I’ll keep this thread updated as it goes.
thanks

That has alot of potential. I still cant figure out though how you get the car parts from the model kit to stick into the same areas that the car parts from the original figure came from in order to make it transform into a car again. How do you do that?
Check out my G1 re-paint of Alternators Silverstreak btw!

The respray looks great. as far as getting tracks to transform. well, that's a good question.

and I don't have a firm answer yet. but I'm close. and when I figure it out, I'll be sure to let you guys know.

Oh, also, how do you pop out those pesky long metal pins?

ebay. I searched under something like "model kit corvette 1:32"
the 1:32 scale seems to fit with the classics OK.
the pins are a pain. if you can see both ends of it you can pop them out with another pin and a firm tap with a hammer. the ones that are visible on one side only, I don't know. I'm also no pro with this stuff. alot of it is trial and error. I've errored a lot.
me sleep now.

Well youve told me alot more than some. I tried searching on ebay for the kit i need but found only one and i couldnt afford it. Dammit.
I figured those pins would pop out that way, have you ever had any luck with changing the wheels?

ok here's a quick photo update on the project.
the legs are almost complete. they fold under the hood and clip together perfectly – this is all mirage. but the two halves of the hood match up really well. the hole in the hood will have a raised engine cover that will convert into tracks' gun. his feet will be “folded classic divebomb's arms”. these will flip open in alt mode so that he can blow out others' tires in a high speed chase or during an air strike. the white shape over his right leg is a roughed out cover that will swivel to the side to fold the legs in. in robot mode they'll cover the void left in his legs when they're folding out. his wings are ripped off of rodimus. No worries, I'll be using mirages wings on rodims when I convert him to sideswipe and redalert. I threw rodimus in some of the shots for scale. tracks is gonna be an inch or so taller. I came up with two accessories that will accompany tracks and these will surely delight any hardcore G1 fan. Personally I can’t wait to finish this so that I can get to those. my only dilemma right now and it's a major one, is that I don't want to sculpt a new head and mirage's head is too distinct to try to repaint. any suggestions?
Thanks all.

hows this coming along? I wanted to ask you how did you get such straight lines when you cut the model kit up? What did you use to cut it?
And how are you planning on changing the wheels over?

quick update.
he now has feet that fold in and out.
his torso area is now connected to his waist and legs. and might I add fully transformable
his hatchback sports removable rocket launchers with rockets(not pictured)
he also has side exhaust pipes that clip to his legs in alt mode.
feet and rockets came from cheapo walmart fake transformer toys.

Kick ass! Mine is less complex, just a basic re-fit as i dont know how to make strong enough joints to make my own new ones for new weapons and stuff like you have.
What do you use to make such strong joints?
