Hubcap to Mishap

This is a stupidly easy mod that gets rid of a really bad Tformer head and replaces it with something much slicker. Both Searchlight and Hubcap have head pegs that seem to work with GI Joe, and I'm guessing many others do as well, so I'm sure you can do something much more interesting with this. If I were more skilled (or skilled at all), I'd make a Transformers Crossovers Destro and use his color scheme. As it is, I created a little scout I call Mishap:
Hubcap's head looks like a duck. It's awful. The paint is really poor as well - it looks like he just dipped his duck bill in a paint puddle. The rest of the figure is fantastic - one of the best scouts I've seen in both modes. Fortunately his head pops right off if you put a string around it and pull. (does not break it). This is totally reversable if you're not happy with the results.

Now I've replaced it with a GI Joe movie Destro head, which popped right onto the Transformers peg. Mine fits pretty well, but I suspect some people might want to use the old nail polish trick to make it just a little tighter. The silver shine works quite nicely with the silver parts of Hubcap, but best of all - it transforms perfectly with the head on! The trick here is you want to use a relatively small head because it needs to tuck behind the shoulders. Bald people are probably your best bet. Destro's new version had human eyes with a bit of flesh showing, so I blacked them out with a fine-point sharpie. In Canada, Loblaws has Destro on sale for $5 right now, but I'm guessing the movie Joes can be found on the cheap everywhere.

Now for the fun part. Destro's head is perfect for Gi Joe helmets (the bald thing again). I used one from the laser specialist, Flash, who is in stores now (Anthony "Flash" Gambino) if I'm not mistaken. I find that Flash looks better without the mask anyway, so Mishap is going to borrow it for display.

I think this mask mixes well with the old-timer car theme. Like some sort of leather-clad vigilante driver.

Anyway, nothing groundbreaking, but there is a lot of fun to be had. I love customs that actually transform and once my camera is recharged, I'll even show what it looks like underneath. I can even stow the helmet in his orifices (ew.)
