Barricade

Another old one who's gallery got lost and needed to be redone.
This figure didn't have a neck joint or much in the way of hands. He was cool in the film but the toy is very lacking. I removed the panels from the forearms and attached them to the legs where they connect in car mode. I used twisty ties and ice-cream tub cutoffs to make fingers and added a ball joint for the neck. The paint was already coming off one of the doors so I did most of the damage on that side.

There are plenty more pictures
here, please take a look!

Awesome! Are the hands custom made or are they from another figure?

The answer's in my post! They're scratch built from twisty ties and bits of ice cream tub!

wow, that makes the figure look SO much better. Nice work, how did you get the panels from the forearms to stay on the legs? I wouldn't mind trying this on mine, or maybe an extra if I can get my hands on another.

Wow, inspiring you is quite something! Thanks for your compliments!

They stay on fairly securely thanks to the pegs that hold them in place in car mode. No modifications needed! Unfortunately getting them off the arms is hard.

Nice! I like the fact that you don't really need to mod anything to make this work. But I've got a feeling that it also means that in order to transform him, you need to remove and replace those panels during the transform then, correct?

No. They stay in the same place in both modes. Of course, the peg it's on isn't a secure joint so it'll get knocked off in the process but if it was a proper swivel joint it would stay in place.

This is sweet. My favorite movie Transformer and I just got one to attempt to do some of this. One thing if you could please message or post, how did you go about getting the back quarterpanels off his forearms? Thanks.

Wow, this is an old thread you've resurrected!
As I recall I had to cut the plastic in the wheel arches. It was very fiddly. That's all I can remember.

Thanks for the reply. It is a old one but a classic,

. I been looking Barricade over and it seems I can take out a couple screws and maybe cut them out. Then 1 pin holding the head on for a ball joint. This is the first time I am working on my Transformers except for some black paint trim on animated Ratchet.

I seem to recall the head being a bugger to get to as I couldn't take the body apart. I may be mistaken.

This looks soooooooo cool! I might try this with my own Barricade (I have the Recon redeco).
One thing I think could improve the figure, though, is some sort of weapon. I never liked that the Barricade figure was essentially unarmed, and I think a weapon of some description would really help him. Maybe a big, beefy, police-ish shotgun?
