WFC Galvatron

I've been thinking about making WFC Megatron into Galvatron for a while. After browsing on line, I saw some people made it by swapping head either with Universe Galvatron or Generation Drift. After some thinking, I thought about an easy one by just creating a crown for him and then repaint. So I started digging some of my old and unused Gundam models and found the pieces I want. Here it goes.

First piece in a panel inside Gouf Custom's shield. Cut those two edges out and fixed the width. Another piece is a panel on Zaku III Custom's engine booster. Trim the lower part so make it sharper.

Now super glue the center piece first.

Then the other two pieces. Done.

In tank mode, the crown is far out. Since there are enough empty space there, the head don't have to fold in.

Then the repaint begins and still in process.

Very crisp paint job! Great idea, and glad you put it to work!

nice work man, looks sick, wish I had one that just came like that, haha. How do you guys cut pieces off so well, any cutting I try just takes forever and looks like crap. Exact-o knife I'm guessing eh?
Also when you take off entire pieces, do you just go at it like a saw? or do you sorta shave it off by taking slices off over and over?

Thanks.

Yeah, kind of. I just use the basic craft knife. Cutting to make both sides even took quite some time. I took an estimate big piece off first and then slice (shave) them by small pieces at a time. compare them very often to get what I want. Then sanding is very important to make the plastic smooth after cut. I only use two sand papers. #240 (very rough) first and then #1200 (very fine) to make them smooth.

Also didn't mention here. To prevent paint scratch on the upper chest during transformation (you know, the shoulder parts squeeze into or out of chest), I cut off a lot of plastic around inside of his shoulder so when I push it in or pull it out, it doesn't scratch the upper chest.

Very interesting, good job on the forethought for the chest. Thanks for the info, I will refer to that when I next do some minor modding ;)^

I see you painted scourges wings a bit too, cool. Is it just a stripe along the edge?

Good eyes. ;) Yes, in the jet mode, the blue stripe just extended from the jet nose. Gundam marker blue matched that color exactly. Also added a tiny dot on each tip of the wings for directional light. Left red, right green.

Without a four pack stomach he still looks a bit Megatrony but I like the cannon mode.
