LSOTW Fortress Maximus

With the unveiling of the iGear Impactor and Wrecker head moulds, I thought I would share my Wreckers custom. Here is the Warden!
Image
I know that Gasket/Grommet/Cog, Cerebros, and Spike did not make an appearance, I felt like they might have been behind the scenes, patrolling the grounds, or killed early in the Decepticon assault on the Garrus-9 Penitentiary. So included them.
Image
Image
I still do not like the idea that Overlord made such quick of Max, but he did not kill him!
Image
Even though Max never transformed in LSOTW, the terra based alt. mode was implied by the addition of tracks on his legs and backs.
Image
Image
Although G1 Fortress Maximus had nearly the same color palette, the application areas were almost completely different from Wreckers Max.
Image
The "rifle" becomes the spire of the baddest wing in the Garrus-9 prison. Solitary confinement!
Image
Alot of mods went into this one. I tried to maintain a balance between the original Max, and LSOTW max. This custom includes LED eyes, with CAD designed interchangeable faces. The Original, Cartoon calm and angry, and LSOTW calm and angry. The Rifle has 3 LEDS, two reds in the barrel and green in the scope, along with a speaker and battery assembly with 3 separate weapon sounds.
Image
Image
I used all custom mixed paints, base coats, highlights and flat lacquer sealant airbrushed applied. Dry brushing, washes, computer designed components, electronics, metal flake metallic paints, the works! Hope you guys like it!

EXTREMELY in depth video covers everything about this custom, bored? check it out:

woah my god.
give it to me.
:P
what did you use as tha base?
i've always thought it would be a funny idea to use third party stuff eg predaking hands instead of making your own for a kitbash, even if the thing you are making is nothing lke the thing they were designed for...:P

I used what else? A g1 Fort Max! This guy is 25" tall! The hands are scratched built. I appreciate everyones nice words. I have added a video (it is long) that demonstrates the electronics and process of CAD designing the head upgrade along with a bunch of details about this fig:

Holy **** man, that is outstanding. I've lurked the customs board for a long, long time, and I don't think I've ever seen anything like this. Outstanding.

BTW, best picture? Custom Max with his arm around reg'lar Max sporting the smoking gun finger point. Magnificant.

 Wow, thank you so much! This really was a major undertaking (for me atleast) and I cannot explain how good it makes me feel to hear things like that. :-D

Any reason you decided to make him so big?

That is simply amazing. Makes the original Fort Max look dull and boring. Very impressive work.

Thanks friend. Yes he and his minions transform. Max converts into rolling battle station, and city/fortress. I used a G1 Fortress Maximus as the base chassis and just went from there.

Here is a link to a video I made that covers alot, including the CAD designing work on the faces.

This is incredible. I kept thinking "no way did he use a G1 Fort Max" and then when I saw that comparison shot with Overlord I was blown away. Really great work mate. I love the new face sculpt and the work on the shoulders really stands out too. Cant wait to see your next project.

Freaking amazing. Fort Max was always an amazing toy for me when I was a child mainly because most it was almost as tall as I was when I first got it. I was not thrilled when they showed him as a pushover in LSOTW, but I understood they couldn't show him in his glory. As for this kitbash/model. My hat is off to you. This is such amazing work that I honestly still keep finding my mouth open in shock and awe. Good job. :APPLAUSE: :APPLAUSE: :APPLAUSE:

 Case and point? If you could manufacture these, they would sell like freakn hot cakes on the fourth of july!
Astounding work on an astounding figure that I honestly thought was perfection! you have taken this to a whole new level! you, good sir, need your own private wing in a museum!
quick question though.
I can mod new hands and guns and attachments and everything else like there's no tommaro, but, when it comes to painting? well, let's just say, G2 looked better than my paint jobs, and my jobs are scratchier than the american unicron trilogy's plotline! #-o (I know) any tips on what kinda paint to use? any type of lacker or solvent?

Thankyou very much for the compliments! And I'm sure your paint jobs are not as bad as you think. As far as advice on paint, for brush and airbrush I really like Testors Model Master paints and Citadel (games workshop/warhammer) paints for bright colors. For enamels I usually mix down with a little thinner, but I think prep work is the key. A scotch bright pad does wonder to helping paint stick. An airbrush is great tool too, but a cost effective alternative is rattle can. Krylon has a line of spray paints called Fusion. They are designed for plastic applications and I have had very satisfying results with them. If you can isolate a part and spray it, do it, spray is always smoother than brush. Honestly, check out www.procustomizers.com There are FAR MORE talented people there that help get you where you want to be with paint. Hope that helps.

The neck is the only part that bugs me a bit but as for the rest...fan-f***ing-tastic!!!! I never in a million years would have had the stones to mod a G1 Fort Max unless I happened to have a spare one lying around (which I'm guessing and hoping is what happened in your case) just because of the price tag involved with this figure. You have done a phenomenal job! :APPLAUSE: :APPLAUSE: :APPLAUSE:
