New face for ROTF Sidearm Sideswipe
Posted: Fri Aug 05, 2011 2:34 amHi everybody, just to show a minor mod. The face on ROTF Sidearm Sideswipe is, in my opinion, ugly and tiny, compared with the whole body, i just don´t like it, creeps me out. ROTF sideswipe has a better and bigger one.
What i just made, was to create a mold from this one for the first, trying to push the head as much as possible, in order to keep from not fitting inside the body, and yet, had to do some carving, but the final result came very nice.
Photos don´t make too much justice, the results are much smoother.

- Epoxy is your friend, add some glicerin on the mold and countermold prior to making the FIRST (negative) and SECOND (positive) imprinting, in order to avoid sticking, and let the epoxy dry for a day before separating, so you will not lose the shape and details
- Notice how the chin barely fits on the chest cavity
- Don't go crazy on the dremel tool, this part is thin!
- sand any excess and paint

- You may want to add a transparent enamel layer on the face, should it scratch on the inner walls of the chest cavity to avoid loosing paint on the chin and the helmet´s crest
