Big Green Mean Machine

The voyager class Long Haul was never released in the U.K., Hasbro skipped it and sent us a ghastly yellow repaint instead. The green I've used matches the colour as he appears in the film, not in the C.G.I. shown here. I gave him a used look with light green drybrushing and a generous coating of dirt washes, the final coat being a light colour because of the battle in the Egyptian dessert.

Originally he had those stupid damned monkey arms so I cut his hands off (that'll teach him) and gave him ball joint wrists. This allows Long Haul to hold more expressive poses without restricting the transformation.

In Revenge of The Fallen Long Haul has missiles in those big things on his forearms but I couldn't find anything from which to make them so I put gun barrels on the end and put turquoise rhinestones in to catch the light. I was surprised at how well they twinkle - almost as if they are alight. I also added colourless rhinestones where his lights are. He doesn't have blades in the films but I thought they looked cool so I left them on.

Nice! Love the rhinestones on the gun muzzles. REALLY loving the balljoints you gave him on his wrists. I'd do the same for my Longhaul if only I could find the spare parts. His monkey arms have been annoying me to no end.

One question: were the headlights clear red out of the box? You did mention this itself being a repaint by Hasbro, so I wondered.

Yes, I didn't change them. This was Payload, not Long Haul when I bought him.

Thanks for the link, Mykltron. I'm also looking for ball joints to mod BB Bumblebee. Which size joints did you buy for him? Don't want to end up buying the wrong size; hard to exchange stuff on an online store.

I didn't use any ball joints for him. I bought some of every size available just to make sure I'll have what I want when I want it. HLJ take so long to ship you don't really want to have to wait for the order when you're part way through something.

Oh yeah, I remember now; you gave BB Bee a T-joint for his wrists.

As for HLJ, yeah, they do take their sweet time when shipping orders--notorious for their tardiness, in fact. The ONLY time they were quick about shipping my stuff to me was right after the recent earthquake. Shipped the next day. Guess they needed some quick cash to fix the damage.
