Here's Kanrabat, LEGO version!

You may have noticed that I'm kinda interested in Transformers recently. You may have also noticed my OC/avatar. I just want to have him in toy form. So, why not build him myself?

I decided to make him out of lego. It's been years since I buildt anything out of lego. More than ten, in fact. But that didn't stop me. I ordered a BTR Armada Megatron set from Ebay. It was incomplete, but it was dirt cheap and had most of the importants parts so it was perfect. Ironicaly, the BTR set was less expensive than the wheels. I had to order them from a British guy at Brixlinks. 25$ for the wheels and the 8 blocks to hold them. Expensive, yes, but worth it. I finally dug out my childhood's lego box and went to work.

15 hours of work including a night without sleep later, this is the result.

The vehicle roll fairly well. The front shovel of that (no choice but to be) cybertronian snow-plower can turn on the peg. More to the right than the left, which make this okay because that's usually on the side of the road the snow is pushed back. (in before you drive on the left side in your country.)

Next post, I will transform the thing.

TRANSFORM!

Transforming him require lots of care because parts can fly off everywhere at any times. I may glue and paint it to make it rock solid and more good looking. The trolling potential against Lego and custom fans is infinite. But this will require to sacrefice all these pieces and not being able to buid anything else with them. I'm thinking about it...

Anyway, ONWARD!

First, I have to unpeg the front shovel.

Image

Image

Remove Kanrabat's weapon from storage. It just sit there in the back.

Image

It's a blaster...
Image

...That change into an ax!
Image

Here's how the vehicle look from it's underside.
Image

3 peices must go to unlock the wheels and legs.
Image

Image

Rotate the front wheels.
Image

Unfold the legs.
Image

Unfold the feet.
Image

The locking blocks peg on the back for storage.
Image

Legs are done.
Image

Unpeg the arms from each-others ans unfold them.
Image

Image

Last minute setback. This peice had to be move there because itprevented the next transforming step. It look better there anyway.
Image

Dramatic head reveal and colapsing the chest panels.
Image

Flatten the roof on the chest.
Image

Finally, rotate the smokestacks against his body.
Image

HERE'S THE COMPLETE ROBOT MODE! He's so top-heavy that I must lean him on the wall.
Image

Next post, Kanrabat complete with his weapons.

This cool in a G2 kinda way! Hey, I'de glue it all together, sand down all the lego pegs and then paint it up. Maybe make some adjustments first. If those rear wheels make him back-heavy, why not take them off and make them a hammer? Just a suggestion.

That shovel become his sheild... if he can lift the damn heavy thing!
Forgot to mention that the sheild can shoot lasers from it's mounted gun and it have a secret missile launching mechanism!

Image

Now, here's Kanrabat, with sheild and axe, ready to plow trhough decepticon scum!
(Man, his firepower got quite the upragde!!!)
Image
Image

And here's myself with my HUGE creation. I'm so proud!

Image

Back to vehicle mode. It's the safest way to display him in my collection.
Should I glue and paint him?

The wheels don't make him back heavy. It's his whole upper body that make hin top-heavy. That sheild don't help either.

If I ever glue and paint him, I will never try to remove the lego pegs. The risks of catastrophy are too great. Beside, he IS made out of lego. Gluing would prevent the parts from flying off mid-transformation. Then, I will just paint him as is. He would be "construction-yellow" with some black and chrome. Then I'd apply some stickers detailing.

What kind of glue would be perfect for lego? I need something that will be permanent and rock-solid.

I don't know. You should ask one of the mods to move this to the customs area and then start asking around there. People down there know what's up.

Anon on 4chan /toy/ post this picture as a reaction to my design:
Image

I just couldn't unsee it. So, I made a minor mod.

Image
The robot mode have imroved a lot.
Image

Even the vehicle mode have improved!
Image
Image

Dammit, just that minor mod took me more than a hour. Jeez, almost two in fact. The damn front wheels that keep falling off did not help. Putting it on the shelf is nerve-wracking. Oh, you are so going to get glued.

Looks cool. But why instead of gluing the pieces together, dont you buy some toys to make the vehicle, than some robot toys to make the robot mode. You already know how is transformation scheme,so you will just to have to make a kitbash.
