Inferno/Grapple: Masterpiece Upgrades

What I'm aiming to do with my upgrade kit is to add more height to the bot mode, length to the alt mode and a more "MP" feel to the figure. This will require you to remove some screws and screw in my new components. If you know how to use a screwdriver and have taken a figure apart, you're qualified. It will include a ladder, articulated hand with a gun, extinguisher attachment for one of his wrists, new waist, new legs, new knees, a hood for his head. It will be completely transformable with no parts forming. Grapples components will differ slightly to the inferno mold and I'll start working on those when this one's complete.

I'll update this image when I complete more components. Cost, Sales, Pre-orders will be available when i know.

I've still got a lot more to do and clean up, but if you're interested please stay tuned.
Thanks for looking guys.

Can't wait to see the extended alt mode. Almost more excited about that than the extra height but that is definitely cool too!

Thanks Harvester,

I have a lot to go still but here are some updates for ya.
I got the component I was waiting for yesterday that attaches the waist to the bot.

The Two existing screws hold it in place.

I have a lot of tweaking to do but the more I play with it the more I think this will work.
Now that I can transform him, I'll be drawing out the gaps and filling in the ladder, hood, ears, etc.
here's some pics of the truck mode so far for length.

Hope this is affordable, looks awsome. Will both hands be available? See a future for a cool Motormaster and Ultra Magnus custom using your add ons.

Awsome parts, sign me up please. will we be able to buy parts at a time as we want or will it be a kit that we will order? I just did a deal just so i could use this kit and make a new MP for my collection. If we waited for Hasbro/takara to make a MP Inferno and Grapple i would be dead for 10 years. Please make this happen, i for one will be buying this at least twice.

I just love your idea by upgrading current Transformers into something better, especially when we go from Voyager to (mini) Masterpiece!
Its amazing how a new pair of upper legs and some hands make such a difference (X-Transbots take note)!

How is your project going at the moment, any further developments or photos?

Keep up the great work! ;)

Any updates? If what you have only already shown was the final product, I'd buy it just so I could display it in bot mode. The alt mode isn't too bad either, just has that one gap on the side panels but I could live with it =P

This looks very cool, and makes me want to grab the HotSpot figure when it comes out so that I can make use of this kit :D

Looks great and really improves the aesthetics of the figure. Always bothered me how that figure went from chest to legs. Do you have a price point for the kit at this point? I would love to dress up both Inferno and Grapple, but not if its an arm and a leg. At the same point I have no idea of the time/$ you have invested at this point either.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the support. No pricing just yet. I'll explore possibilities when I wrap up the design work. Been juggling a lot these days but I have some updates for ya.

here we go. The waist and upper legs are ready for testing.
changed a few things up and solved the outer panels in vehicle mode.

As for hands and gun. I've enlarged the gun mode and made the handle compatible with MP sideswipe and red alert and made inferno's hands capable of holding their weapons. I've also simplified the fingers. Instead of all four, I'm only having the index finger move and the other three as one part.

Image

And the front end. Still working on fixing this up but it's meant to look like the fuso front. He'll also get dome lights to replace the square ones on the roof.

Image

More to come guys. thanks for staying tuned. :)

Edit: oh yeah, and here's a quick reference pic. he's sporting the old parts I made but should give you sense of height.

Will you ship to the UK when you release this?

Thanks for support guys.
just to answer a couple of questions.
yes, hopefully when they get produced they'll ship worldwide.
and No pre-orders yet. I'm not even close to being done

So I got some updates for ya

Please note that these are quick test prints.
I got some prints made thanks to Stagwolf Garage Kits. Some sweet test prints that Eric provided me to figure certain things. Super helpful while I fine tune some of the components. I can already tell that I want to make adjustments to the front grill.
Image
Image
The back end here shows how the hips are on ball joints and swivel in the center, moving the leg down as it extends out. Note the leg on the right doesn't have the detail paneling on the back. The fit will be factory tight when it's all said and done.
Image
Finally the back bumper. I think should be a bit thicker but this demonstrates the basic idea. In truck mode it's a bumper and in bot mode it swivels down and acts as a stabilizing heel.
Image
Anyway back to the files to make some fixes.
Thanks for looking guys.

So here's the first issue with these parts. the swivel is so tight that it's not allowing for the intended range of motion. the legs need to be able to move down a little further for everything to fit together.
otherwise, everything seems to be working as intended.
got some detailed parts the other day.

back bumpers as stabilizers

This is the key part that will get the rest of him going. ladder and head guard will be attached to this.
