Custom Classics Whirl
Posted: Sun Mar 03, 2013 11:05 pmThought I would share this with you guys. I had gotten the original Headrobots Whirl kit for the ROTF Whirl. However after a couple years, having an all blue Whirl just didn’t seem right. It wasn’t G1 enough for me. So I decided to sacrifice ROTF Grindor for a good cause. It was a pain in the ass, but I was able to get some of the dark blue parts that aren’t helicopter parts and switch them up. I removed the open Grindor hands and replaced them with the closed fists from ROTF Whirl needed to hold the guns. I also switched up the silver part on the rotors and the landing gear to add contrast. All blue parts added are hidden in helicopter mode and it looks like a standard ROTF Grindor. Unfortunately, the fins from the Headrobots kit that are meant for helicopter mode are dark blue still. I would add some blue copter parts so the fins don’t stand out, but I have a feeling that would look stupid. I like this a lot better than DOTM Vortex with the new Drone upgrade set. I have that one too in my POL, but I will be giving Tomahawk an upgrade into a darker version of Whirl for my G2 Autobot shelf. Let me know what you think.
