Generations Twincast

I wanted to take the opportunity to share this new custom Twincast I own. I did not do the work. All the credit goes to my friend Eddie who did an awesome job on the custom painted head and parts swap. Obviously, this is a mix of parts from both FOC Soundwave and Blaster which I picked up at Wal-Mart for $22.00 each. The figure is very complex to take apart. A soldering iron was required to heat up and remove many of the pins. I chose to keep as much of the Blaster grey parts as I could except for the thighs because the darker grey ones from Soundwave added contrast. Since I own the recently re-released Encore Twincast, we decided to go for the more toy accurate look on his head. Eddie gave him an all silver visor, instead of the “goggles” that FOC Blaster comes painted with. Next was the signature gold face. We talked about dying the blue on the cassette door to make it red, but chose not to since it would probably come out looking purple. I chose to paint the purple apps on his arms in blue to make him look less evil. And then I added a bright, new, faction symbol from Reprolabels which really stands out better than the white one Blaster comes with. For fun we put back together the unused parts to create a crazy Prime/Soundwave hybrid. I think this is about as good as Twincast gets, until the inevitable Takara or Botcon repaint. But it’s good to have him on my shelf now rather than waiting who knows how long. Hope you guys like it.

Very cool! ;)^

Though the black bits in Vehicle Mode kinda stand out and clash with the rest of the look, but I guess that's to be expected.

Any plans to paint the hands and gun red?

Erm, well, technically, what you've got is a show-accurate look, since the Encore Twincast's head was colored show-accurately instead of colored more like its original toy (which had a silver face and golden eyes). But, with you being a cartoons fan, I guess that works out in your favor. :D

I think it is possible to paint translucent plastic into another color while keeping its translucence and getting the intended color. I've seen fan customizer Cheetimus Primal do it with the Star Saber than comes with Beast Hunters Optimus Prime in his customizations of the mold. So, if you still want a red door window, he might be able to help you out. ;)

We appreciate the comments guys ! :D

Eddie told me it was probably not a good risk to try and make the tape door red. Red and blue makes purple. I would have to see the method done on a test plastic before I took a chance. I chose not to paint anything that would end up chipping. If there is a junk figure with compatible red hands that I can buy, I would be open to swapping them on and finding a red gun.

Optiwave? Soundimus Prime? 8-}

Had/If Hasbro/Takara had done this, and released Soundblaster in the near future, I would have been more willing to get Soundblaster to even out my shelves.

Give my regards to Eddie; he did a bossing job! :APPLAUSE:
