The AutoBat

Hi guys, just wanna share another custom of mine :D
Image

Image
It's basically a repainted Generations Sanstorm with Batmobile parts (with some additional Gundam joints and random TF parts) slapped on him. The idea had struck me ever since I got Springer, but Seibertron's gallery of SS convinced me that the huge wheels fits better with the mod, as does the additional backkibble to rest his Batcape on. A Drift figure was sacrificed for his door-wing joints for AutoBat's feet addon, as well as the chest armor.

Image

Shield-roof-cape piece is now attached to Sandstorm's weapon handle via a gundam joint, so he's technically a semi-partsformer.
Image

The AutoBat is painted entirely with Gundam Markers plus metallic Sharpies for the Bronze/Silver/Gold details. It was quite a hassle to do because of the way some parts interlocks in some crazy ways and I'm just not that confident to start taking pins out without damaging the figure, so I had to use paintbrushes to get into some nooks and crannies.

BatEars comes from the thin plactic pieces ontop of Sandstorm's gun. Most of the hard work of this mod is the tiresome process of cutting/filing the chest to allow the ears to pass through during transformation.

Tumbler Mode
The entire project was made just so I could fit all of the Batmobile pieces onto Sandstorm :P .
Image
It's just too bad I couldn't fit in the awesome rubber wheels.

It also means The AutoBat had a half-assed Jet mode
Image

The Batmobile parts comes from Moebius' 1:25 plastic model kit.

More pictures from multiple angles here!

Currently I'm thinking of using the leftover Batmobile wheels for maybe 2 Batpod TFs which also combines into a larger bot similar Victory's Multiforce, but that sounds like too much work and I can't think of any TFs that could fit well with the thin-frame aesthetics :-?

Thanks for stopping by and cheers! :D

As both a Batman and Transformer fan I have to say that is an incredible job.

GREAT job!! I think Cybertron Ransack could work very well as a base for a Batpod!

One of the better Tumbler Transformers I've seen to date. And I don't think the air mode is all that half-assed. I think it's inspired to be able to work the third mode in there in any way at all instead of just totally sacrificing it.

Thanks for the suggestion :D But scout class is kinda small (and tough!) for me to work on. And I just happened to come across the FrameArms series (http://hobbynotoriko.yumenogotoshi.com/ ... -nine.html), which is pretty cool and flexible to work on. Probably gotta pluck a few ol' TFs heads for that, heh :P Robin and Batgirl as the Batpods, perhaps?

Might as well start crackin' on ideas for a Jokertron as well.

Cheers! :PEACE:

I honestly don't think I could come up with more appropriate praise than that.

You've done amazing work their, guarayakha. Bravo, sir. Given what The Bat ended up looking like in The Dark Knight Rises, I think your "half-assed" jet mode is perfectly acceptable. It kinda reminds me of General Grievous' ship. Or perhaps even an airboat.

Whatever. It's indeed a splendid piece.

Some Minor updates...new hands!

Image

Hands come from MG RX-78-2 Gundam 3.0
Image

The tech behind this set of hands is the work of some insane black magic. All 5 fingers have full articulated joints, so there's like, 16 points of articulation!

Downside, he now has gorilla-ish proportion if he had his arms down :HEADHURTS:
