I've been considering doing a voyager scale kit bash of the G1 character, Snapdragon.
Can anyone recommend a base figure to start with?

FOC Grimlock would be great for the Dino-mode, but lots to do if you wanted the jet mode.

For the Dino mode, Animated Voyager Grimlock should work nicely. The Jet mode is going to be kind of hard to get out of that mold though.

I have been considering FOC or animated grimlock. I personally find Snapdragon's reptilian mode more interesting too. I'm basically looking for a base figure that stands as tall as a current voyager.
Though I'm not looking to give him a jet mode, I'm looking to give him some of his jet features as well (wings folded in, a pseudo cockpit, and the cones on his shoulders-I don't know what they're called) I may have to Frankenstein a couple of figures together to get what I'm looking to make.
But since I'm not knowledgeable on what all is out there, I thought I'd ask what other people will suggest.

honestly? i'd consider generations blitzwing. the jet mod is a no-brainer, and it might be possible to rework the tank mode into something more reptilian, especially if you're willing to kitbash your FOC Grimlock

You know, that's a pretty damn good idea! I'll post a pic of what I was able to manipulate him into when I can. No kidding, this is a great idea!

This is actually not far from being able to get all 3 modes.
I'll just have to fabricate the head and arms, and add a little bit of paint!

Looks like Bltzwing is going to do it for you

I did apeface a few years ago (from animated Blitz, funnily enough) and still want to do a Snapdragon, though my idea is based around the voyager sized Starscream from the cybertron line. Playing with the robot mode, all I need to add is some stubby arms (for a kinda Godzilla ish look) and of course a dragon head. The head is what's had me stumped...but now I think I may get a predacons rising skylynx, since I like how the dragon head is the robot head.
Will you be making yours a headmaster?
