G1 Optimus Prime (FINISHED!)

While I'm currently letting my Leader-1 project sit for a bit until i figure out the shoulder problem, I thought I'd try doing some more artwork, but I was unsure what, exactly. Then I got to thinking: since I was a kid, the illustration of Prime on the box fascinated me. The pose, the colors, everything about it set the tone for the character in my mind for years to come (the American version).

Well, it finally dawned on me: "Hey, why not try doing your own?" And so, here we go....

1) Pen work:

2) Colored Pencils:

3) Begin Acrylics (didn't like the colored pencils):

4) Continue Acrylics:

5) Detail Acrylics:

I still have to adjust the final color and shading, as well as work on the wheel details and the fuel tanks a bit. Overall, it needs some more tweaking and work on the glass parts, namely the windshield.

Hope to have more for everyone soon; stay tuned...

Well, finally finished it:

I got the "more than meets the eye" lettering in. I just need to put a sheet of cardboard on top of this, then some heavy books so I can flatten it out. All the lines and lettering are straight; the paper just bowed a little here and there, but the flattening process should fix that.

And that should be it for this piece folks! Thanks for watching!

That is fantastic! Great work! Very cool to see the steps along the way to creating it.
