I've just started playing around with http://sketchup.google.com/ and it's a lot easier to use than other 3d packages that I've tried in the past so if you want to start modeling I'd recomend it.

On my first go I threw together a little frenzy head

pretty cool.. I'll have to give this a look over and see what I can accomplish
