I'm getting a Prowl kind a vibe from him.

Like the colours, and the Inferno-esque hand!

I can hear Michael Knight's skull crunch inside of him.

So that's why the show was taken off the air.

Nice. Liking it alot. Especially the knight logo on his forhead. I once pictured a transforming KITT, but I can't draw very good so it just stayed in my head.

I do have a KITT sitting amongst my Alts, in scale with them. You can't tell which are transformers when they are in alt mode.

:)) Heh Heh! Actually I thought I should've made KITT a Headmaster, and Michael the head. Thanks for the feedback everyone!

It is awesome. This one guy made K.I.T.T using windcharger/tailgate. Like yours better. More original.

Only in his first ep. Before he got that stupid white strip.

I forget who he was voiced by in his second ep. Now what needs to be done is KARR (original voice) in Goliath's body. That would be a sweet ep/movie.

Interesting. I was still a kid when the Knight Rider series is airing. I don't think i've watch all episodes.

Let me guess. KARR is a twin of KITT? Maybe a white version?

Close. He's actually the prototype, identical to KITT except his woosh bar and voicebox is green instead of red. He was programmed for self preservation, which made him unpredictable and dangerous so they shut him down, locked him up in storage and then made KITT, who was programmed to safeguard human life. But KARR was always a black TransAm Pontic, same as KITT. Though in his second episode, he aquired a white strip along the bottom half, which is why most KARR models you see have him half and half. Though I haven't seen his second ep in a very long time, so I can't remember how or why he did it.

Useless trivia: In the first series, KITT's voicebox was just a flashing square. They made KARR have the lines that increase/decrease in length to differentiate him from KITT. Fans made it known they loved this design for the voicebox, so Larson altered KITT's about 2/3 of the way through series 1 to the better design.

Fantastic info on Knight Rider! All i know was KITT, the woosh bar, and Michael. I wasn't aware of these bag full of tidbits. It even got a toy??? Holy TransAm!

Your "useless" trivia is very informative. Not so useless afterall. :)

Any idea what KITT and KARR stand for? I had the impression they were acronyms. But never knew their long versions.

Useless trivia is often imformative, but it's till useless. :P

I don't know if any toys were made, but when I say models, I meant a 1:24 scale replica I've seen and in the Knight Rider Computer games.

KITT stands for Knight Industries Two Thousand and KARR stands for Knight Automated Roving Robot. Or something like that.

Incase you don't know, Goliath is a large juggernaut of a lorry that was coated in the same indestructible shell that KITT was in. It wasn't sentient but was driven by Garth Knight, the son of Wilson Knight (who owned Knight Insutries) who looked exactly like Michael Knight. Except he had a dodgy moustache. Like all good villains of the 80's that look like the main man did. And needles to say, Goliath owned KITT in a game of chicken.

KARR and Goliath were the best eps of Knight Rider. Wish a dvd came out with just those eps on them.

How is Michael related to Garth and Wilson?

Not that i wanted to meddle into their family affair. But they do seem to have the same surname spelling.

:) ;;)

I'll field that one!
If memory serves, Michael's plastic surgery was patterned after Garth's looks. Garth was believed to be long dead, so this made sense for some reason.
Michael Knight is of course the new identity given to a (nearly) slain police officer. His original appearance and name are never revealed, but the original intro had a guy in silloutte getting shot. Knight industries gave him facial reconstructive surgery and a new name- hence "a man who does not exist."

I just checked the Wiki, and I learned that in in his first episode, KARR was voiced by Peter Cullen! How about that!
Check it out, it has a picture:

Wow, Peter Cullen!

Now that, at least legitimizes our KARR discussion in this thread!

Small correction there. The officer that became Michael Knight was originally called Michael Long, who was buried and declared dead after his was shot in the face point blank range. He was seen for the first 10 minutes or so in the pilot episode (Knight of the Pheonix) which actually shows the shooting (the guy in silhouette). Michael Long was played by a different actor than Hasselhoff, but he did the voiceover of the lines so Michael Knight and Michael Long still had the same voice. They looked similar if you ask me, so yes, the voice does fit the man on screen.

I just remembered why Wilson made Michael look like Garth. It was because he was dissapointed his son had turned evil and made Michael's face look like Garth in an attempt to set things right. IE a good son to follow Wilson's dream. Needless to say, Garth was not too impressed by the face steal.

There was an episode in series 2 or 3 where the man who had ordered Long's killing recognised the voice of Knight, dug up the grave of Long, realised what had happened (because the coffin was obviously empty) and went on a vendetta. KITT jumped off a car park roof and into a sixth floor apartment in that ep. That was an impressive jump.

Unfortunatly, Cullen didn't voice KARR in his second ep. Sorry Wheel_Jack, I thought that's what you were hinting at earlier. I misread your post.

Useless trivia 2: Larson deliberatly kept the Knight Rider theme out of the episode until we met KITT.

Useless trivia 3: KITT only had his woosh bar because the effect had proven so popular on the Cylons from Battlestar Galactica (another of Larson's shows) and Larson himself loved it so much. So without Cylons, KITT wouldn't woosh.

Thank you Series 1 DVD box set and all of the special features on it.

With all of this talk of Knight Rider, I may get the series 2 boxset sometime.

All four series are out on DVD boxsets. The trick is to find them for a decent price.

Useless trivia 4: Hasselhoff wrote an ep in series 4 where Knight considered retiring and marrying. He intended this to be the final ep of the entire saga, but it was placed earlier in the series. Much to the fan's distaste as they also thought this would have been the best ep to end on.

Useless trivia 5: The film Knight Rider 2000 was not filmed in 2000. It was filmed before and in it, James Doohan (Scotty in Star Trek) makes a cameo where one of the main guys says he has been in all 10 ST films. He was only in 7. By 2000, there had only been 8. Close predictions, considering the film was done in 1991.

Useless trivia 6: Knight Rider 2000 was suppossed to be a pilot for a new series. Michael Knight had indeed retired, as what had happened in the script he wrote (Useless trivia 4). But the series never materialised. Personally, KR2000 should be stricken from the face of Knight Rider canon for how badly it screws things up.

Useless trivia 7: Larson wanted a pompus voice for KITT. So he specifically got the guy (I forget his name) after hearing him on another tv show.

Useless trivia 8: Warning! This one may ruin the feel of the show as it did for me.

Hasselhoff and the guy who voiced KITT (who also did KITT in the Simpons when KITT and Knightboat appeared) never met on set. It was 6 months into filming when they met for the first time at a Christmas party and Larson had to introduce them. KITT's lines were read on set by a stagehand so Hasselhoff could interact properly.

And I'm spent for now.
