So I've been working on a final project for my design fundamentals class.

Our project is to do a product box(in this case cereal) in 3d perspective on a 2d platform.

Now I'm doing mine in a mix between Photoshop and 3ds Max, the teacher told me so long as it's printed media 3d work is considered 2d.

So this is my project currently. Any advice or some constructive criticism is welcome.

Ok this looks a little plain, now since you're using photoshop to give it the finishing touch, I would get rid of the white background and give it something different, like a 2d room, and also add a bit of reflection on the glass, of stuff that might be in the room.
Other than that I can't think of anything els you could do.

Worked on it a bit more tonight. It's due tomorrow at about 1:30, lol.

Anyway, aside from dicking around with more lighting effects, Mental Ray and the like. This is what I've come up with.

The shadows ended up disappearing, I'm adding them back in with the use of a mental ray spotlight. I'm working on brightening it up, as it looks a bit too dreary for a product ad of sorts.

And I'm working on blurring the background so the focus stops directly on the box and cup.

Good work, just in that pic it looks like the box is floating over the table!

It was, just a little bit, I fixed that in the version thats rendering right now. Currently it takes 2 hours for the frame to load.

But I've tightened everything up, gave it even more realistic lighting. Which is the reason for the long render time I believe.

I'm happy with it, so after I check my changes, make sure everything is peachy keen, I'll render it for a final time to proportions all that nice jazz, then get it printed off on some nice glossy cardstock.
