What kinda paint should I buy then? This will be only my second attempt at a kitbash and the last time was a disaster

Coming from me, you go with what you can find.

That's my philosophy ... mostly because I don't have much choice around here.

So I use Humbrol, most others use Tamiya, the really crazy ones use Games Workshop, you go with whatever works for you.

I was asking more about acrylic vs other types. I remember Sonray and a few others raised a lot of hell in the old art forum about different paints. I never really could tell the difference in the final product, but I have no idea which to actually use.

Acrylic ... enamel ... still comes down to what an individual works best with.

Then you have the gloss -vs- matt debate. Some people prefer their kitbashes to have a nice glossy finish, others prefer a flat matt finish.

I prefer matt because they're machines of war, they're not meant to be shiney.

Simple answer, you go with what you can work with and what works for you.

So you might want to find a junker and just experiment on it.

I might try to find a KO from Big Lots to toy around with.

I dunno Red, sounds like you're going to make him a real damn good representation of his characterisation.

The "real" kitbashers will never accept it!
(Though hurry up and do it so we can get some HMW figures into the monthly newsletter)

If you have a printer, just make your own sponsor labels and print them onto micro thin acetate (aka over head projector sheets) then trim and stick.

You'll just have to make sure you use a clear glue (that doesn't melt the acetate), and then you can add any sponsor logo you want.

Thats why you buy the micro-thin stuff, they're about the same thickness as a rizla paper these days.

Not to hand. Ill try and find you some at the same time as I photo the kitbashes ive been too lazy to get out of their box and take pictures of.

Still slow going, but it's at least a minor update.

New Gore or new character?

New Gore. Ever since I first set eyes on the mold i've wanted to do this.

Eventually I wouldn't mind getting another CD Red Alert mold and doing a straight up Stalker.

Upper torso painted (pre-clean up). This sort of pic is handy because I can pick up spots I missed that my dodgy eyes tend to miss.



And I was told I was crazy and it wouldn't work, but I never listen to such things! And Gore was, and will once again be, a tank!


Unfortunately I had to butcher my perfectly good spare CD Scattorshot which I wanted to use for a repaint someday.

This are very cool Robots here I have drawn my two Decepticons and want to show them here too!
