Seibertron DOES play

Well, well, well, looks like our site owner and recent HMW programmer does play the game a little. Sadly, I was on the losing end of this one.

I am hoping this is for him to learn first hand how the game goes. I know, as a community, we try our best to explain things to him but sometimes experience is the best teacher.

I think he said before that he plays to help understand the inner workings on the code...if he gets addicted he won't have as much time to work on the game ;)

Not gonna get addicted nor understand the game tooling around in the arena lol
Though I admit it does have research applications...

I've got to play to figure out how the game works and figure out what needs to be fixed and modified. Have fun taking out my Decepticons!

Then I only have one question... Why cons? As a con myself, I'm not complaining but I am curious.

I was one of the first players when the game was developed back in 2003. We needed someone to be Autobots and someone to be Decepticons. So I was Decepticons. I probably have one of the few full groups of characters, which is how I have the original 6 Decepticon Pretenders.

That's pretty awesome actually :) thanks for the info, so was the first Autobot the first programmer that hmw had then?

Maybe I switched allegiances at some point? I remember having the Autobot Pretenders as my team but don't remember why I switched. Maybe we needed more Decepticons at the time?

I switched my team manually back to Autobots to help them out since the Autobots seem really light lately.

Any chance of Burn getting that power in the near future?
I believe he has a list of people willing to sacrifice & sully themselves with the red brand for the good of the game.

He has that power currently. However, there are in-game mechanics for defections. I should look into that soon if there are some of you willing to switch sides.

It might be for the best actually, I wouldn't mind experiencing life as a maximal as I had ideas for them if I choose to go that way in the first place.

You working to the premise that he's a maximal protoform with a predacon shell program?

Was just thinking a straight-up activation code defect scenario, but that's entirely up to those switching Image

Wait, what? The only screen I know about that requires me to go through and manually change every member of the team. Is there a shortcut to do the whole team?

Yep. I just modified it so we can't edit it on a character-by-character basis (we are not going to mess with mixed-teams in this game). The player's allegiance is able to be switched in the "edit players" screen/section. If you update the player's allegiance to something different, it will update the allegiance of the characters as well automatically. I will never understand why the faction ID is duplicated in the character database, since it should always pull from the players database, but that's another issue to tackle at a later date. We shouldn't be editing allegiances really, though. This is more for testing purposes and such. If there is a demand for switching allegiances, it should be an in-game thing and there should be a penalty of sorts. Obviously at this point if there is a need for people to switch to maintain balance, than that is a different issue which we can publicly discuss.
