Campaign for Cybertron balancing idea, feedback requested.

Yes, the sides are whacked, that is undeniable.

Riffing on a comment Steve2275 made about needing the kills/scores of his fellow non-posting bots to have a chance, we thought about creating something along the lines of an 'Iacon Accord'.

In a nutshell:
Each Autobot commander that joins in certain CfC rounds will be allowed to nominate a non-posting Autobot player that they may also count the scores from.
Unfortunately, there have to be some limitations, but I am doing everything I can to KEEP IT SIMPLE.

  • 1) You can only chose 1 team to help you each.
  • 2) You have to post any kills/victories/points/etc. you want to claim (see #3), we simply do not have the time to count them ourselves.
  • 3) You may collect their results as a faction in Iacon all you like, but they must be posted to GD by whoever chose them to count (e.g. Steve2275 chooses Kurn. All the bots can record Kern's victories in Iacon to help him, but Steve must be the one who posts them in GD.)
  • 4) You can only add extra commanders up to the maximum of how many con players there are so the sides are even, so choose carefully.
(And I think this one will be a good idea as well.)
  • 5) The teams average level must be within 1 level of yours.

We think this will help balance things for -hunt games at least (Alt, Scalp and Scavenger) and we plan to use modified custom-named missions for any War rounds, but that's for a later post.

This idea is still in its initial stages, and I know this is far from being the silver bullet we need to kill this particular monster, but I'm looking for feedback, issues and other suggestions.

Do you (Autobots especially) think this could work?
:???:

I think it would definitely help, and for the most part it sounds good as is.

I like this idea. Using the teams that are fighting along side for the collective sounds good. I couldn't tell you how many kills I could of gotten if the "lurking" bots didn't grab them. I definitely think this is a step in the right direction that will help out. As we know, we can't force people to be active on the boards. I really hope posting to the bulletins will bring in a some new players or players who never wanted to post.

So we are basically stalking a team during tourneys? Alright then.

I can think of one or two commanders who I see often but who don't post. The trouble will be if we use their kills and then they come around and say stop. As for you have so far posted, I like it. If the Bots do their job right, we should work together to select the commanders.

As in they ask you to stop using their kills? Unless they're deciding to join in the fun (which they should have from the start of a tournament) then I don't believe they have a right to stop you. Heck, we'll just put it into the tournament rules.

The bulletin is 'bot only to hopefully encourage a few more in here (I've no idea what it says as Burn wrote it and I cant see it) and I'm pretty sure the cons will give me their opinion whether I want them to or not.

As long as the majority think it will work, I can finalise it and continue to work on the first Campaign round.

Campaign for Cybertron - Feedback request

Hi guys and girls,

Psychout is looking for some feedback in regards to balancing things for future tournaments.

He, (and everyone else who helps organise/run tournaments) would REALLY appreciate your input.
DISCUSSION THREAD HERE

Cheers
Burn
(P.S. If the link doesn't work send me a PM. I can't actually see these Autobot only bulletins after they're posted and my HTML is sketchy)

You gave me the idea Steve. I'd rather see more bots joining in, but if you're still outnumbered do you think this will work?

At the same time if by doing this brings these lurkers out of the woodwork it's a win either way. :ic$:

We are doing this as a community, so as long we are all on board it shouldn't matter whether or not someone gets upset that we are using kills that we should be using in the first place.

Exactly!

I honestly cannot see why people would be upset. I really cannot wrap my head around a reason as to why, and quite frankly, if someone DID come out and have a whine, they're going to get mocked so badly I'm probably going to have to actually be a Admin in the HMW Forums for once!

These are good ideas, and it lays the groundwork for con players to do the same if the battlefield shifts and there's mors active bots then cons (you laugh but it could happen)

News crew attention to detail at its highest level there.
Could and did. The Autobots dominated this game through sheer weight of numbers for a very long time up until 4-5 years ago. These things go through cycles, the cons won't be on top for ever.
