Your characters vs. you

I'm wondering, how much of you is there in each of your characters? I know that generally (not always), when someone writes a story, a good part of the person's identity works its way into the story, i.e. I, as a Chinese person, would gladly write a fanfic where Decepticons/Predacons invade Beijing.
Then, there's the bit about attachment to the characters (to the point of causing... if you don't know what I'm saying, you're lucky).
Of my team, Wind Convoy and I have so little in common that it's very hard for me to get into his head at all. Air Convoy partly came from my reading a bit of Dune and delving into Star Wars political intrigue in order to put together a family tree, along with a little bit of that girl from X-Men.
The most significant of the bunch is probably Sith Convoy, since she is pretty much what I would have been if I pushed my math as far as it could go. There's quite a bit of me in her, moreso than in any other character on the team.
Water Convoy probably could teach me a hundred lessons about mentioning fast food in front of a guy just before lunch time. Oh well, I most certainly will stop using food to cause commotion (one day).

If you read any of the stories involving Gore you'd have to wonder if he has split personalities.
The serious stories he's very much his own bot. Tough, and pretty much always pissed off. (Contrary to what some idiots may believe, that's not me)
The light hearted stuff, basically anything that involves Mini-Maximus Prime. That's pure me being a smartarse.

I see Dynamax as my dark half and Datamatrix as my light half.
Dynamax has become twisted due to the losses and suffering he has been through and it's made him into something of a monster. Something I can relate to, my teen years.
Datamatrix is my fun side, my happy side. The guy who'd prefer to kick his feet up, relax and have fun rather than deal with all of his problems, but when he does, he does it well and does it right. Plus he's also symbolic of my relationship with -Soundwave-. If I need to explain then you don't know the lady well then do you?:P
Data's casettes are my imagination run wild. After all i have a viral Condor who has a feud with the light fixture in his master's room, a narcisitic bat who makes Tracks look tame, a drone like superwarrior and a pair of Mexican dinosaurs.

Nemeis Jetfire represents me having fun with my friends. He exists as a joke towads Venomous Prime and his disdain for the Jetfire name, exibited by Datamatrix's involvement in his naming.
Omega...that's my cliche side. You know the type of character that appears weak and unasuming but eventually changes into a terror the likes of which the world has never seen? that's this guy....plus my fanboyism of Cell from Dragonball Z. Wait until I show you why (as soon as Glyph solves the alt rotation problem that is). No Omega isn't going to absorb Hot Rod and Arcee to attain his final Perfect Form....nothing like that. It's more "in the spirit of..".
Dreadknight and Dynabreaker are symbolic of my friendships too. Tammuz is Dread's co-creator (made his look and inspired his bio) and TS based 'Breaker off of my backstory, and i took her in when he needed to make some room.
The others...nothing too personal.

well of my team, Flarescythe, well she is me though ididn't give her a much of a persona background but in my stories flarescythe is who i(meaning my human character zeta) find out that i'm the human form of flarescythe that she took on when optimus destroyed the matrix trying to keep megatron away from it. the power was released and split into 4 spheres of energy i sphere is flarescythes spark, a second is my othe rteam character Skidmarks who's my friend Mae's past self. the other 2 is harmonis prime(autobot leader b4 sentinel my character) and the last one is sentinel prime himself they both too became human as well but they haven't come in yet in my story.

I didn't try to avoid it - two of my characters are directly based on my personality. Well, different halves of my personality anyway.

Hmmm I guess I can see some of my own traits in two of my girls, Syphonic is a doer. She doesn't like to sit and hope that something will come along, she'd rather get out in to it and do it herself. Star Raider, she has more of the timid daily me quiet, abservernt, and calulating.

Yeah, most of them probably have something of me.
Some things I can think of:
Darkshot: quiet, team first
Wasted Ammo: easily annoyed, not the happiest bot, clumsy, bad aim
Bullitholes: likes to drink
Fugazi: pessimist
Brainwashed: weird
Catfood: hungry most of the time, can be aggressive
FraKctured: unpredictable
Blasted: bit of a daydreamer

My entire team are exaggerations of various aspects of my personality to varying degrees;
Psychout's laziness.
Mal Practice's lack of ethics or moral boundries.
Hard Wired's disillusionment with the world and subsequent violent temper.
Evil the Car's complete disregard for anyone other than himself or his xbox.
Darth Fear's fantasy-world self inprisonment.
Cold Iron's entrapment in a place he was never supposed to exist.
...
All the way down to Nemesis Wheelie who exists as the cartoon Wheelie irritates the crap out of me.
Ill leave it up to whoever to work out how much of those are me and how much are exaggerations, but there is a bit of me in all of them i suppose. It makes it easier to write for them too...

You'll all probably call me a nerd for this, but I once met a guy who was a lot like one of my characters and I felt like I was talking to teh character, which was very unnerving.

by Blackstreak
Blackstreak is more like who I actually am, or try to be: relies more on wisdom to understand someone or a situation, not too quick to judge but still comes to an opinion about someone based on actions & words, not very skilled in combat but knows enough to defend himself, the most capable leader of all my characters.
Wholtoran is my aggressive side, the side that vents the frustration and anger. He is based off of Wolverine, and his origins are from a fantasy world of mine where an elf's life essence was ripped from his body and put in a mechanical body. For a flesh creature consumed by sex and then encapsulated in a non-sex body is maddening to him.
Silverhoof is the pure embodiment of my love for fantasy, roleplaying, reading, and all things games. He would rather be in a D&D game than take care of responsibility.
Gravitor is more of a reflection of many friends that I have: gun enthusiasts plain an simple. He's a bit of a redneck- you know the ones who only know how to breed, shoot, and drink. Well, thats not me at all.
Omega Kaladrix is nothing more than just my desire to play an Omega Supreme type character.
Title Wave is also a reflection of my interest to read about things, learn new stuff, to explore.
All of the Dinoscouts have minor reflections of me reminiscent of desiring superpowers, any kind of superpower. And because I simply like the dinobots.

by DARKAGEIS
i hope my personality isnt represented by my team!
lets see.......
darkageis:- on the verge of being crazy, hates grimlock.
triblast:- just loves to shoot things, dosnt care if he cant aim
buzzcut:- just likes to break things (ok maybe a tiny bit lol)
swordwind:- just got to slice bot's up
treadbreaker:- oblivous to his own destruction
nemesis keidis:- definatly not me, its my cat now he is evil and insane!
Chiurgeon:- crazed surgeon that watches TO much bad tv (maybe the tv part)
the pain:- crazed attack animal, nah
turk:- slowly losing his humanity, few more years in retail and that might be me. lol
gore-smash/rekgor/drone xb-009:- big no!
the closest is darkageis, hes like my opposite. he hates everything, especially grimlock and the dinobots.
where as i love the dino's but not the cartoon versions, gonna make that abundantly clear right now!

I think most of my characters are different aspects of my personality except for Quasar who is acutally a creation of Sustar's. I'm probably most like Pulsar and Phoenix with a dash of the others.

My characters can't be a reflection of me, if they were then I'd be a stressed-out paranoid destruction obsessed pyromaniac with a superiority complex and fanatical loyalty........... oh. Well, atleast I'm not a pyromaniac.

Unless you piss one off and get deep-fried for it.
Or unless the pyro is so powerful that the power got out of control and he burned himself to death... but the only one that I know of that is that powerful is long-dead.

by Ramrider
I'm not sure there's that much of me in my characters. In fact several are pretty much opposites of aspects of my personality. Right...
Ramrider: Loves to cause as much havoc as possible; has mellowed (slightly) with experience and the responsibility of leading his team. Nope.
Firewall: Nervous wreck, starts blasting at the slightest hint of trouble (even if there isn't any). Nope; if anything, I'm slow on the draw...
Twitch: Ruthless and businesslike, and totally focused on the task at hand. Okay, that's a polar opposite if ever there was one.
Stallion: Young and cynical, with a major attitude problem, quite a violent streak. Nope.
Slide: Strong silent type, only speaks when he has something worthwhile to say, highly skilled ninja fighter. Yeah, right.
Whiteburn: Hyperactive, constantly needs to be occupied to prevent crushing boredom, but totally efficient once he has something to focus on. I think not.
Grease Monkey: Too busy focusing on fixing everyone else up to take care of himself. Hmm... a bit, I s'pose...
Dirt Track: Probably the closest to me; doesn't like fighting, likes to spend time alone.
Hardplace: Knight in shining armour, always places the mission first, and likes to look his best and make a good impression. Not really.
Boneshaker: Ornery old warrior, battered to hell, but determined to show the others how he's still got it. Heh. I know I'm losing it...
Frontier: Young and inexperienced, always willing to volunteer, can be annoying but has great potential in the future. No.
Commcast: Not really a fighter, stays back and helps co-ordinate the others. There's a bit of me there, I guess.

i am my name sake thru and thru
tho the bio was fiction - the reason for my contempt for Optimus remain fact -
all my life * well growing up * literaly * Optimus Prime was my hero
*heh* even did a report in 6th grade, (oral mind u) telling all in my class
how i idleized him .... what he stood for, his goals ackomplishemnts etc..
- yes i kno he's only a comic character, but u see i have no real person in my life i could or can ever look to for advise or to share my secrets
to bear my soul * so i kept with in
but as i grew older * my out look on life grew dimmer and well....
When the rehtoric of "Freedom is the right of every sentient beign" grows old and stale thru action and deed seen, twisted and shamed, only Nemesis remains

I think that Air Convoy and I both deal with pain by burying ourselves with work and ambition until we drop, but she does it alot more than I do, since she's got guilt issues when it comes to not spending any time with her son.

I only realized this as I was filling out a questionnaire about my OCs, but Wind Convoy has so much in common with one of my uncles that it's very scary.
