i bought one attached it to a transformer went into battle and it is gone

when you get stasis locked in battle it dies and you loose it

Which really makes them worthless...

Having to re buy them is to damed annoying. All I can see this leading to is degrading weapons...

you are not meant to use them all the time. there for strategic use only, i.e. when you absolutely, positively have to win the mission, like for example a resource gathering mission, or a tournie mission, or such.

Or, if they where changed, they could activate when you're below a certain amount of health to give you a boost to try to keep you alive.
