I'm a newb who needs help...

I just got registered, got my first TF.
I'm going to go to the arena, but I don't want to be royally screwed...
Does any one have advice, tips, and just all around info on how it's going to work?

P.S: I'd really like to know what the controls for fighting are.

P.S.S: Remember I'm just a stupid newb, so if I say anything dumb it's not my fault.

Well there are no controls you don't actually get to control your TFs in battle, you earn xp through missions and arena and as you do you can upgrade their stats to make them better fighters. You just toss your bot into a mission or arena balttle and you will see a timer at the bottom of your tf when that times says done there wil be a log of what your bot did and if they won and how much xp they gained Log Example.

I will direct you to HMW Quick Start Guide & Beginners Advice for beginner set up advice

There aren't any fighting controls, you act as commander over a team of TFs and you send them into Arena fights on Missions, wait for them to finish heal then up and send them off again.

Welcome to HMW Warning: contains Nuts

There's an advice thread here: http://www.seibertron.com/forums/viewto ... =1478&sid=
All my best stuff I can share is in there.

EDIT: Well beaten to it by Symbiote Spiderman14!

First of all, welcome to the game!

And don't worry about asking stupid questions: the only stupid questions are those that go un-asked, I say.

As for advice, the arena is good for the lower levels, since last time I checked, CR was free for l. 0's... But then again that could've changed and I missed the memo...

There aren't any fighting controls, actually. You just put your TF into the arena, and once you're matched up with an opponent the outcome is determined by the RNG, or Random Number Generator- no button mashing involved. An arena battle lasts 30 minutes from when you start (not counting the time spent in the queue), and once those 30 minutes are up, you can take a look at the log to see how your Transformer did. Think of it like this: you're the commander, telling your minion where to go and what to upgrade, stat-wise. You can't control their actions, it's up to them to fight.

Thanks!!

Well...from one n00b to another, welcome to the fold. ^^

The biggest element to HMW is not control of the battle itself...it's the strategy. Take missions, for example. If you deploy a character to a mission where you're vastly outnumbered, of course your odds of victory are greatly reduced...but you might stand the chance at getting just a few more shots in than you normally would. If you enter a mission where you're at a clear numbers advantage, you'll definitely stand a better chance at gaining the xp/energon prize...but you'll also get less shots in, and the more you stick to missions like these, the worse off your faction will be in other areas.

Just n00b reflections, these thoughts - pay them no mind.

Again, like the others mentioned, check out the HMW help thread (nuts and all) and just keep tweaking your characters, and trying new things to figure out what works.

What I meant was that if you flood missions where the Your Team / Their Team ratio is 4:1 or 5:1, your transformer is taking up space in a mission where it's obviously going to win, leaving missions with 1:4 or 1:5 ratios at a disadvantage. Eeeeesh...just n00b rantings, pay them no mind. :D I'm thinking too hard again.

You know, for a 'noob' you have a great grasp of how the game works.

In my lifetime, I must admit that I've been both. I also used to watch a friend play the game, so I had the gist of it when I started to pick it up on my own.
