Altmode Classes: More or less?

Am I the only one who doesn't like the increasing number of Altmode classes? Really, what's the big difference between Semi Truck and Truck (in terms of game mechanic)? Why Jets must be separated from Airplanes? How one tells the difference between a Monster and a Land Animal? Why Repair Tanks, Emergency Wehicles, Rescue Wehicles and Fire Trucks are not grouped together?.. and so on.

Basically, what I would like to ask:

Do you wish to see MORE different altmode classes (remember, it'll mean there's less altmode pics in each of them, because the total number is constant)?

Or would you like to see LESS different altmode classes with more almodes in each, to choose freely from?

Or you don't care either way?

Because there's no way to post polls in this forum, I'll adopt the ingenious technique introduced by RobotInDisguise:

Repost the following table in your post, adding +1 to your choice:

-------------------------------
Altmode classes:
"Yea, give us more" - 0
"No, make less of'em" - 1
"I don't care either way" - 0
-------------------------------

(the 1 for LESS is my voice)

"No, make less of'em" - 1
"I don't care either way" - 1 <- Guess who?
-------------------------------

Its called Variation.

The varying alt types are so that you can have any combination of tactics wihtin a specific type of alt at a differing cost dependant on how likely it is to be capable of the move.

Jets are different to Planes; propulsion systems, speed, payload, passengers, range... so the alts are listed seperately.

And its also so they make sense when the mission logs are spawned. Decepticon Repair Platforms dont get called Fire Trucks or Rescue Vehicles any more as they dont fit under the category. If it confuses you now, just wait until 'Trains' turns up as its own class and still does the same as 'Truck'...

Bring on the Alt. Classes.

Give us variation right down to 'Coupe' and 'Sedan'

Let's face it, some alts really need to be in their own class - like the TV-looking boombox.

I like the idea of more diverse alt classes. :)

Like Thunderscream said, some alts are just asking for their own alt class, too...

More.

For the simple reason it's going to add diversity to alt mode classes.

An example is land animals. How can an alt based on a earth fox ram a tank while an alt based on a Command Wolf with guns on it's back not strafe?

Why should an alt mode like Cybertron Defense Hot Shot only be able to ram when it has guns mounted on top of it?

Why should tanks only be able to ram and strafe? Not all medics are going to look like ambulances.

It's all about adding diversity (something people have been screaming for for years, funny now that they get it they don't want it  ) as well as adding a bit of logic. Bunny's cannot ram tanks. Plain and simple.

Let the 5% flow through you. The 5% surrounds us and binds us.

You've opened a whole new floodgate here, Burn.

Well, to be fair, I doubt the people who wanted diversity are the same ones complaining about it now.

Oh, and:

-------------------------------
Altmode classes:
"Yea, give us more" - 5
"No, make less of'em" - 2
"I don't care either way" - 1

Of course I want more.

Diversity is a good thing.

Might be a good thing particually we could move some of the cond jets into something else i mean how many jets can one side have?

Bombers for example, should have strafe only, like weapons.

You know, even if we can't diversify beyond the 4 main tactics yet, it would be kind of cool if the tactics had different names for different Alts. "Bombs" instead of "Strafes" for bomber jet alts, "Mauls" instead of "Rams" for certain animal alts, etc.

Well, I also like more diversity, makes it a more interesting and realistic environment.

Also, I'd like to see some more choices for each alt type, when are more being put available ?

I could care less what the alts are called, I do however agree about the tactic argument. A fox is in no way equal to a twin headed dragon.

i wouldn't mind there being less alt classes, with them being more vague in what they are called, i don't see why repair tanks and fire trucks are different alt classes, both are identical in terms of the game, and it seems a bit superflous. why not class them as "Heavy emergency vehicle" and have the alt descriptions specify what it is in terms of repair tank, or fire truck. maybe if we only had either descriptions or classes i'd see a point, but we don't and i don't

things like Helicopters and jets i do see as being different alt classes becuase they require different stats to unlock their tactics.

we'v gone off topic. the question was, do we need more alt types, and someone commented i want as detailed as a ford and a rover, or something to that effect. this i feel is extraneous unless a change comes about in the tactics system, or the way the alts communicate and affect each other.

i.e why have 87 types of car, when 1 or 2 will do, when there is no difference. that is the question, not changing the names of tactics or whatever, stay on the question, and logically you will see there's no points in having a million diff alts.
