ATTN: New Leveling System

Next week there will be a new piece to the levelling system put into place.

Once characters hit a certain level of XP on every level up to 7, their character will automatically move up to the next level (up to level 7 and after that the character can reside on whichever level it likes 7 and up).

Players will no longer be able to indefinitely hang around in certain levels. As of next week (whichever day I am actually able to get it implemented), there will be a script run once a day that checks every character in the game and places them on the appropriate levels if they hit their level's XP cap.

Here is a list of the XP caps for each level:
Level 0 = 60,000 and below
Level 1 = 400,000 and below
Level 2 = 1,200,000 and below
Level 3 = 3,100,000 and below
Level 4 = 6,400,000 and below
Level 5 = 13,200,000 and below
Level 6 = 30,000,000 and below

The current leveling system has always been too easy to take advantage of and it absolutely will not work in the new game. I realize this will not be a popular thing to do but it is the right thing to do. You'll notice in the XP scale that you will have plenty of wiggle room in each level before leveling up and no one will be leveled up into an unfair situation (ie: a character with 60k XP is a pretty decent level one).

Of course, if you are a level 0 with 20k XP and you want to level up to level 1 you will still be free to do so. There will be no restrictions on level movement outside these XP caps.

A bit of confusement: So, if you have 20.000 Xp, you can choose to be lv.10, or the minimal requirements remain (5 stats + 9 for every other level) AND the upper border will be?

Minimum stat requirements remain for each level UNLESS you hit the XP cap for that level. If you have 1,000,000 XP and are on level zero with 4 stats you will become a level 2 with 4 stats.
That would probably be a good time to reconfigure your bot.

Oh yes, most definitely.

Actually, I just realised that it doesn't really effect me. I tend to upgrade at the first opportunity anyway, even when it doesn't help my team that much.

Well, the only cons affected by me are Cannonflame and Manterror, I configd them to counter the Quint force...

It doesn't affect my team either; most of my characters are well below the maximum atm.

According to the new ranking system, most of mine should be L2 instead of L4. Will that make things extremely unbalanced now with the major shifts? Why isn't there a floor for each level or do you have the floor listed and not the ceiling? I know this is trying to correct the level bulleys which is a very good thing.

From what I understand, the above system is limiting the maximum amount of XP a character can have at a certain level; it's doesn't say anything about the minimum amount it takes to reach the level.

Yeah, OS was trying to be generous with those XP amounts. Most players will level up FAR before those points.

Exactly. Sumowrestler will not be affected by this at all.

Everyone on my team except one is 1.1 million and that one is 800k. According to the new system, all of mine would be L2 which begs the question on how OS came up with these levels. At the rate I'm going, I won't ever go up to L5 before the reset which is fine by me. This does bring into question if there will be more competition for the L3-L6 ranges.

Works for me. I don't think I'll be bothered by it at all.

You're still missing the point that these are maximum totals and the not minimum or even the recommended totals for levelling up. Like I said before, most players will level up far before these totals.

Indeed. This scale is only targeting players that try to abuse the system.

Will Tactics, Robot Abilities and Stats all count towards level also then? or will it just be stats?

woo hoo! one step closer to V2! I like the idea of a max for each level, this should also force people to be smarter with their energon as they don't have level 0 free cr to fall back on.

Glad to see a system like this in place...and the numbers are very liberal (max of 29.999999M xp for L6, for instance). I can see not including the very highest levels in this (L9-11), but I do think L7-8 could use some limits as well, though.

Seems a fair system OS as it gives people plenty of scope still to go up levels in their own time. I wouldn't have thought that many people would be effected by this.

Nice work OS, this is the best of both worlds. And I would also like to second that 'in your face' to the lvl. bullies. ;)^

I applaud this, but to be honest i think he should have gone further and the limits should be a bit stricter, myaybe even half of what they are in certain places; none of my level5-7 bots are affected but, but to think some of them could get away with being level 4s just seem evil...

I think some of the upper limits are VERY generous however I still think it's a great step and long overdue.

But just for clarification, a bot with 100 million can only level down as far as level 7 and no further?
