Your faction is determined in game.

The alliance you choose on the forums is for forums only and has no bearing to the game whatsoever.

It's just a decoration.

That's the symbol for "Deaths head" a character from the G1 marvel comics (uk only) who eventually killed Shockwave. It has no bearing on your HMW faction whatsoever.
