Strategy Question

Do you find at levels 4 or above significant disparities between a 9 and 10 strength? My main concern is that while I do have level 9 strength on two Combatants who almost have the required XP, am I better served to upgrade seemingly useless stats like Int. End. and Rank? I could get these two charachters much closer to level 5 that way and more XP. Any advice would be very helpful. Here's my team http://seibertron.com/heavymetalwar/tea ... p?id=11693
Angry Dragon and Peacemaker Putin are those with whom I am debating about.

End lessens tactic damage and is supposed to lessen weapon damage though that got reset and I don't know if it has been reinstated.

Rank unlocks higher lvl armors and they do work (as opposed to when I started playing when iron beat everything),if you have a 9 str then I would get a rank score and get some higher lvl armors.

Int is only used for unlocking tactics on certain alt modes and repairing. So depending on the char it is useless.

I would start adding some points into rank and endurance and more into courage and speed before upping it to 10 strength

Yeah, having 10 streanght is far from the be all and end all of tf building, you NEED good speed and courage, should really have a little end too, maybe even some rank. And personally i wouldnt be seen dead without some kind of tactic.

You'd probably get more XP if you stopped hiding in the arena.

NO YOU DO NOT!

I've seen plenty of configs with high strength/endurance/rank / low speed/courage work.

Know why? Because it takes forever for you to be stasis locked so you have plenty of time to dish out plenty of damage.

I'd suggest...

- Upgrade RNK to at least 3 before getting that 10th point in STR and especially before getting to Level 5. Anything below U238 (even 10 tons of Iron/Ceramic) is completely useless against opponents who have a Gatling Gun or 10STR/Battle Blades (which you'll start seeing at L5); I've taken down opponents with 10 tons of Iron in two shots with a Gatling Gun. U238 armor should suffice enough until at least mid-Level 6.
- Given that those two characters have low CRG and SPD, you'll probably want to start focusing on END to help bulk up their defensive abilities; having all that STR behind Ram and Battle Blade attacks won't help if they don't survive long enough to attack. And, at the higher levels, most characters have their tactics maxed out (or quite high) and will be using Ram and/or Strafe a lot, so you'll need END to help absorb some of that. Like Burn said, a defensive strategy can work very well (ie - it doesn't matter if you only attack three times if each attack does 45% damage), but you'll need to focus on END and RNK to help flesh that out.

My team has high speed high avoid setups. I'm working on getting courage up higher. turbo has the setup you just suggested and you also just admited it sucked. That's what I'm asking you to explain.

So explain this: http://seibertron.com/heavymetalwar/vie ... a_id=12564

And I know I've a missions link where he got around 1.8 k xp somewhere.

No, really, there are good action master configs that work, at least at lvl 1.

Now on the rammer setups as far as lvls 1-2 go, there are ones that work, such as this: http://seibertron.com/heavymetalwar/cha ... r_id=62771
in this mission here: http://seibertron.com/heavymetalwar/vie ... n_id=12887
and this arena bout here:

Bull ****.
Maybe it works when you have the kinda xp you have Burm, but everytime I've tried it, my charecter has stunk. It *may* work in the arena, but who wants to be an arena monkey?

Urm... well, yes.. technically, lol

and RobotInDisguise; I dont deny that there are good action master configs at every level, but personally I'd rather be a level or two further with the potentailly larger xp payouts.
In the end though it goes down to this, do you want an xp expensive team that is reliable, or a slightly cheaper team that isnt always as relaible, but can produse some spectacualr performances?

Action Masters are too expensive for the performance you can expect. I dont like them, Ive tried them, and I just dont.

Before you go off with crys of bullshit, just how much experimenting have you done? Or do you rely on the information of others?

Do you stop and look at the logs and bots of your allies and opponents?

Did you look at my logs to see i'm NOT an "arena monkey"?

Did you stop to consider that maybe there are other factors involved that have lead for it to not work for you? Being outnumbered perhaps? Not doing it right?

Ever thought to maybe ASK if your setup is right? Or are you one of those people who think there's some elitist bullshit going on and you don't want to ask someone at higher levels for help?

Seriously, i'm tired of throwing my tips out there and having low level people like YOU Redimus throwing them back at me with "I tried that, it didn't work". Maybe instead of giving up you should ask those with experience in this game for some help, because contrary to popular belief, elitism does NOT exist at higher levels, we're more than willing to help out lower level guys, if anything, elitism exists at lower levels because you all insist on learning things your way and insulting the knowledge of higher levels.

And if people want to object to that, go tell Mkall and/or Alpha Strike because i'm sick and tired of trying to help lower level prats who throw it back in my face.

I wasnt refering to you with the arena monkey bit, and yes, everyso often I do try different builds. 9 times out of 10, I end up resetting back to my favoured style of set ups.

And I do often ask for help, and listen. Just ask -Soundwave- and Tammuz, I'll often bug em for help.

And where have you heard me crying of elitismn?
My experiance is by the time you get two or three levels up, you all but cant remember what works best at that lower level (I know I cant).

Actually, Burn, I do appreciate you visiting Low Man's land and giving us advice.

And Tif, you're right. I sorta forgot that both of the characters whose logs I provided had BBs and thus the xp payouts. But Fire Convoy's still a rammer nonetheless.

But if I don't give one of my bots courage, all of my other bots will make fun of him. :-(

Now that's the kind of logic you build a team on. Not necessarily a winning team of course, but...

Thanks for teh advice guys  . Since I'm going to have to upgrade Endurance, Speed, etc. I'm going to work on Endurance first with Angry Dragon and get that 10 strength with Peacemaker Putin just to see what kind of difference they make.

I decided to say scre it, and ended up upgrading my Endurance, Int, and Speed. I hope whoever suggested I put on Ceramic Armor was accurate that is expensive.
