New Job!!

While I was at lunch today, I finally heard back from a place I had interviewed back a couple weeks ago. Loots like I got a new job. I will be a system design electrical engineer or an operator at a nuclear power plant in Nebraska. I don't know which job I will accept. Both areas are very interested in me due to my experince in nuclear power from the Navy. Best part is that I would start out at $70k a year with a $5k signing bonus. I was hoping that I would have heard back from them before my 30th birthday on the 23rd so I could have a great present, but this will do. I am really excited about this. This beats the $9 an hour I am getting now.

Nuke Plants can have odd hours though. Make sure you know what their policies/procedures are for outtages.

Well I used to be a "Homer Simpson" when I was in the Navy. I was a reactor operator on a ballistic missile submarine. I get that comparison a lot. Actually the guy who created The Simpsons was an ex-navy nuclear operator like I was.
I will probably be going down there one of these weekends to look for a place to live.

Funny, my wife is on a team making nuclear reactor simulators for the navy... I'll have to tell her to make sure the controls are as simplistic as possible.
