Mkall is online and ready to go

I just wanted to show you guys a quick something:

Yeah it doesn't look like much but it is in fact the first fight that is happening on my new testing server. Now that I'm on a proper server, instead of a patched-together excuse that I had on my local machine, Mkall is back in business. Expect cool stuff soon!

'fraid not Burn. SQL errors caused the log not to be created, thus no one won, not even the Unknowns.

Working on that now.

I may be blind and/or ignorant, but what are people cheering for? It looks like a regular HMW shot AFAIK?

EDIT: *actually reads Mkall's post*

*prepares nuts for imminent kicking*

We're cheering because that "regular HMW shot" was not generated by Seib.com! Mkall now has a test site where he can experiment, learn the system, and create new features without crashing the game.

So, I say again, Huzah!

I haven't used the perv setting since Jeep! threatened to have the IRA bomb my house. True story.

Hmmm... Obviously our alternate reality counterparts are not nearly as dedicated as we are...

Here's a couple more things to whet your appetite.

This means that logs and fights are now working. I don't think anyone can understand how much I've learned by continuously kicking crazyfists' team, or vice versa:

And here's one just to tease you:

Most likely none of these changes will show up until after I get back from Botcon though. I just don't have the time to get serious before Wednesday

Mkall, if you add in a bunch more alts, could you make sure that they all have distinct names? Even if it's just a number.

It would take some of the trial and error out of changing players' alt-modes in the Admin panel.

hehe, I know all about that stress and pain. Yeah, I'll work on correcting that as well as all the admin panel stuff

It seems very do-able, it seems to keep tack of each alt separately anyway
look here: http://seibertron.com/heavymetalwar/cha ... r_id=67987

Have it call up whatever "desc:" is insead of "class:" when mentioning the alt mode in battle.

That's not what I'm suggesting, in fact, I really think that we should avoid going that route, as, within the battle logs, I think it's better for the alts to be ambiguous. That's really part of the reason the alt images are so vague, so that players can use a little imagination with their characters.

What I'm talking about is having, like: Racecar1, Racecar2, Racecar3, Racecar4 instead of Racecar, Racecar, Racecar, Racecar. That way if I need to give someone a particular Racecar alt, I don't have to try a half-dozen different racecars on the purely-text list in the admin panel to get the right one.

I think the Preds and Maxis kinda need it that way
I prefer "Spider" over "Mischievous Land Animal"
and "Octopus" over "Helpful Sea Creature"

Or how about Racecar-Alt-Sideswipe, Racecar-G1-Dragstrip ... basically name them class-generation-name.

But not every alt is based on a transformer, and there's a few different versions of the same thing.

Non-transformers stuff can follow the same style.

Spacecraft-XWing-StarWars

For those that are the same then you just add numbers.
