Question About Weapons

Sorry if somebody's already asked this, or if there's some FAQ somewhere, but I took a look around and couldn't find anything....
So here's my question:
Is there a difference between an X-Ray Laser, which does "Moderate to Heavy" damage, costs $1500 and requires no skill or firepower and has no recharge
and
Twin Mortar Cannons, which also does "Moderate to Heavy" Damage, costs $10,100, requires 4 firepower and 1 skill, and also has no recharge?
I guess my question here is, how much of a difference do weapons make? Because if you showed a complete stranger the above comparison, he'd tell you to stick with the X-Ray laser, but one would assume that the Twin Mortar cannons, being the more expensive wepaon and requiring greater skill/firepower would be a better weapon. I'm not asking so much about these two specific weapons, but more about the weapons in general (i'm sure there are other weapons which can be similarly compared like above). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

All weapons have an average damage which is proportional to their stat requirements. Taking your above example, the X-ray laser will do the bottom end of its damage bracket a LOT more than the upper end, whilst the Twin Mortar Cannons will do their upper limits a lot more than their lower limits. Basically, if a weapon has a higher combined stat requirement, and a 'no recharge' timer, then it's better. #
Trust me.

that's not quite true, both weapons will do all parts of their damage range equally.
it just happens that while both have minimum damages in the moderate bracket and both have maximum damages in the heavy the xray's minimu will be the bottom of the moderate bracket, while the TMCs will be at the top, and vice versa for the maximum damages;TMCs will be near the top of the heavy damage bracket, while the xray is tops out at the bottom of the moderate bracket.
as for recharges short now definetly does mean short, 2 minute recharges are a thing of the past unless one of the mods goes and does something instinctive, so unless you're pummuling the opposition like they're red head stepchildren No recharge doesn't offer that much of an advantage.
anyone noticed there's quite a few new weapons been added yet?

Yeah, Waylander went through all the canon weapons he could find and added a few from every continuity so everyone got a bit of loving, which was pretty cool.

well it has been 4 days,i was wondering when it would hit the forum.
Thursday Morning i added 47 new goodies to the armory, mainly Canon, with a few requested ones from
Help me make New Weapons! Topic.
check them out,if you want too, every series got few added,i will try and round out the canon as much as i can in the future.
i will add more at a later date, today is a holiday for me,being i am a 100% service connected disabled Veteran. so make requests if you want more added in the above link. i will look at them when i feel like it,just not today. i will add in big groups so it is easier for me,maybe once a week or so,RL depending.

I like the Bonesword, since it's sorta my creation, but unfortunately, the character I had in mind for it has progressed past needing it.

Well my air animal strafer (Harlequin:
http://www.seibertron.com/heavymetalwar ... r_id=45099) is using the razor tipped wing swords which fits nicely
My favourite weapons are the ones that tie in with the characters a little, and perhaps ones that arent used so much. In the past this wasnt really viable (hence my collection of Dols) but now it is and I'm well chuffed. Here's to more customization! Huzzah!
Sorry about the Huzzah. I dont really know what happened there.

I think someone going out of there way to do something the mods said couldn't be done, the good of the game despite continual persecution deserves a huzzah.

Here's another question:
We have both (1) Fusion Cannon that deals light to incredible damage and (2) Laser-Targeted Satellite Cannon that deals incredible damage. Both require a 10/10 level, and both cost 100,000. The question is, if they both cost the same and require the same level, why buy the Fusion Cannon that could deal light damage on a hit over the Laser-Targeted Satellite Cannon that will always deal incredible damage on a hit? Is the Fusion Cannon obsolete when there's a better alternative that costs the same?

"Incredible is a wide term"
Basically, it starts at XY* damage, and has no end damage
I don't remember the specifical damage, I think it was 26 or around that, the point is: while the A weapon can do 10-100 damage, and falls to light-incredible zone, and the B weapon can do a steady 50 damage, it's your choice which one will you choose.

for every stat a Weapon has it gets damage units,be it 0/0 to 10/10,
so lets just say if one is light/incredible it will due low and massive damage,if it is just incredible with the same stats it will due a middle ground damage all the time,do not be fooled from the damage names, the damage is equal for all that are the same stats, just with different amounts for high ,low, and recharge times.

While I never considered it at the time I suggested the sattelite cannon, I've decided that I will be reformatting Mega Collider into a battle satellite when he gets the stats to wield the satellite cannon.
It'll look great on him.
