Home to Alt Mode Maker Extraordinaires!
...Well, not really extraordinaries, but we make your spiffy little icons your characters wear!
Helpful Guideline to Making Requests:
So you want something made into a pretty little 50x50 pixel icon? No sweat, here's what you do if you don't want to make it yourself:
1. Make sure the image is decently large enough. Sometimes bigger, or slightly smaller works. Have to test it out.
2. Make sure the image itself is fairly clear, not grainy, garbled, or any sort of mess. It can't get worked out if the maker can't tell what is what. Also has to follow seibertron.com rules... no inappropriate images, please!
3. Post your desired here and leave offerings(cookies, sugar goods, money, valuables, etc) of what would please the alt makers greatly. ...jk!
Also, for Hopeful Maker-to-Be's, I'll string up Mkall's Altmaking 101 instructions for you to see with greatly altered points. To be perfectly honest, I use photoshop for this. Not sure entirely on other painting programs but photoshop is a definite.
ALT MAKING 101 by Mkall
1.] Find a picture, the larger the better. Must be clear.
2.] Highlight everything that is part of the desired alt. The magic wand tool is the simplest, but sometimes you'll need to get funky with the lasso tool to get everything. Don't worry about getting the perfect cut out.
3.] Make a new layer. Keep the highlight on. Go to the new layer and fill it with a 256 web safe color.
4.] Select some parts of the alt that you wish to be the black accents. Remember that the final product will be shrunk down to 50x50 and 30x30, so don't worry about the finer details.
5.] When you've selected what you want, go to Layer --> New Fill Layer --> Solid Colour. Check the box that says "group with previous layer" and make sure that the Color is None, Mode is Normal and Opacity is 100%. Click Ok, select the colour black and click ok.
6.] If you wish to add more black accents, select what you wish, then select on the fill layer and hit "Delete".
7.] Crop the image so that the frame just grazes the extremity of each side.
8.] Select the base layer, and add another fill layer (Layer --> New Fill Layer --> Solid Colour (Same settings as before)). This time choosing whatever colour you wish (web-safe colours are the preferred choice though).
9.] Once you are satisfied with how your alt looks, time to shrink it down: Select Image --> Image Size and set the longest dimension (height or width) to 46 pixels and click ok.
10.] Select Image --> Canvas Size and set both margins to 50 pixels. Click Ok.
11.] Double clicking the small pic of layer 1 in the layers sidebar should bring up the Layer Style window. If not, Layer --> Layer Style --> Stroke will get us there too. Set the stroke to be 2 pixels and black in colour. After a while, you could always make this into a preset style for easier use. Click ok.
12.] If you are satisfied, save it as a .gif file. Make sure you can differentiate the large and small versions of the alt in later references. The settings on the .gif are as follows: Palette: Local(selective), Colours: 64, Forced: Black and White, Check Transparancy, Matte: None and Dither: None. Click Ok. Row Order: Normal, click Ok again.
13.] Go back to the large image and save your PSD file. You have no idea how handy they can become if you misplace your gifs.
Feel free to post questions you might have. Certainly can answer to the best of our abilities.

Disclaimer note:
Just because we make the alts does not mean that all of them will make it into the game. That is at the discretion of the game management, and I do not advise pestering them.
