Seibertron has been working day and night to get the new hard drive and server up again and I'm in salvage/damage control mode with the game.
Here's the verdict: I can restore the game itself but we lost A LOT of data.
When the game comes back up everyone will be reset. There is nothing Seibertron, myself or anyone can do about it because we had a total crash and just simply lost some of the tables and backups in the mess.
Please try and enjoy yourselves during this mess. The game will be back up within 48 hours.

Guess I'll have to start out wasting some more.

Took me 5years to get to where I got .... What's another 5

Looking forward to more beer and fun.
One question, with the full reset will there be an option to switch factions?

How full is the full reset? Will we keep our TF names?
If not, I think we kinda need to go on the honor system to not snatch up each others names...

As far as I'm aware, it's a full reset, which means that we'll be signing up and playing as if we were newbies. That means once again we'll be able to re-choose our faction.
Sadly this also means that we've lost all names and bios too.

When the game is back up, will we be able to join up with one of the beast factions if so desired, or just Autos and Decepts? I'd prefer to be able to rejoin the Predacons once everthing is working again, but I'd still be quite happy with the Decepticons.
On a side note, recreating all my bots sounds like as good an excuse as any to finally type up their bios.

No one has backups? Seriously? Oh well. Video related. And NSFW.

Well, that simply sucks smelted slag. Honestly, it's going to prove interesting, but I have an idea I was thinking about trying out anyways. With Version 2.0 out of the picture, I could never try it, but now, maybe...
Anyways, I don't think there's going to be any kind of compensation like in the Great Whoops. This event will probably be more known as the Great Crash And Burn. No compensation here, just start again, and deal with it. Would be nice if there was some kind of compensation, but with so many players resigning up and such, I doubt it's feasible. Oh well, as they say, back to square one.

Can we have enough energon to create all 12 right off?

Ouch for those big wigs with the Medium to High Levels. Me this isn't all that bad. But I'm with Rampage if the Preds are still available we shall be there. If not, well we still will be but more in spirit. haha Anyway we shall rebuild!

Ah.
Just when I was breaking into the mid levels too
Ah well, back to the start then!
I call dibs on my own team names.
Don't take this the wrong way, but if anyone does actually take them, I shall murder you. Srsly.

I guess it's no biggy about the loss. All we lost was xp and energon anyway. And like has been said, I can put their bios in now! =)
Enough energon to rebuild 12 tfs for be treasured when it gets back up. The worst part is saving to build your twelve.
And thanks OS, Mkall, guys, for getting this back up and running after what happened.

Yup, he'll be missed. For a start, Redimus' and Redlock's Mottos wont make sence...
I am also gonna lay claim to my names. I dont honestly think that most of them would be taken, but they are my names, and goddamn it, I want to keep them.exitium wrote:Dreadspawn

Could this be used as an opportunity to take the Arena out back and shoot it?
Were any features lost in this, or is it just character xp and Energon data? For instance, when the game comes back are we going to be returning to the days of no colour changing alt modes, only a few useful weapons (yay Battle Blades!) and Iron being super-powerful?
And it would be nice if there was an Energon bonus to start out with, but I'm happy with the game just being back online.
EDIT - Although, TBH, I think the best 'return bonus' would be throw open the alt-mode database for 1 - 2 weeks and allow players the opportunity to equip any alt they want. That would settle the issue of players who had old/exclusive alts before the End.

thus why i shalln't post them. that and it would take a concerted effort by at least 4 players to take
every one of them.
though i am concerend about my white lego tank
excellent news about the game being back though
Code on Omega Sentinel
EDIT:
hmm what of the weapons and armour are they going to return to the the unbalanced state?

I'd have to say that it is one thing not backing up the data of a site this big run (by n large) by volenteers, but if the code to the site's one and only game were lost too, then a SERIOUS rethink about how the hell this place is run is seriously in needing.
Hell, im not very profesional when it comes this sort of stuff and I *still* back up everything I do for tourniments in notpad or word. So to expect the programmer not to have an uptodate version on his computer is highly unlickly.
Of course, I have been known to be wrong...
EDIT:
And at least if I post my team before the event, I can turn round to the powers that be and say, 'look, that's my team, and that there be stealing'.

And I was responding to that by pointing out that it may increase the risk, but it makes it a lot more likly that were it to happen, I could get a resolution in my favour.

Red don't be a muppet. 2000+ people will be picking a bunch of names all at once and you seriosuly expect the mods here to force people to rename them just cos you had them previously and then listed them for all to see?
For the record I'm not planning on nicking any of your names, but the staff will have enough trouble with everyone trying to nick Optimus Prime before DeadRatty or Super Megatron can get it back, never mind your obscure ideas.

Damn, just 50,000xp before my first lvl 2, I am gutted.
I, however, am glad for this reset, I know that a lot of people have lost data, and that is a damn shame, but at least there might be a lot more leaniancy(?) for OS and the others to program new tactics and alt-modes in, without suffering too much damage to everyone's data.
This will either be the best thing to happen to HMW recently, or the worst, so lets roll on the game and see what happens. Things can only improve from here now.
EDIT: And I don't see why we should start off with enough energon for a whole team? If people are really obsessed with names, start a reservist thread instead for posting them here and arguing about it.

Its gonna be a lot more interesting thats for sure!
Could be some massive brawls, be cool if we had a mission for 20 odd bots or something
how many players are there in this game anyway?

Plus there's that whole thing where I doubt anyone's gone to the effort of actually copyrighting their characters.
End of the day, no one owns the names. If someone beats you to a name, stiff ****. HOWEVER, if they beat you to a name then also use your bio or create a bio that some how references your old one and you don't approve then i'm sure the Mods will listen.
Of course people could also use this as an opportunity to come up with some new characters.
