1: There is a drop down on the character page for the bot to give them the weapon you bought for them. Same weapons stack so don't be shocked if you don't see all of them there.

2: On the upgrade link on the character page, scroll down and you can see the alt modes available to you. They just changed a few hours ago.

Quick point, you can change names without resetting. Under the Edit Character link, you can change the character name without resetting. You can also edit their bio, motto, and color. This way you will not lose the alt and armor.

On the Other hand, resetting a bot does NOT reset his Name and Bio. so the question "reset bot to get a new name"... DOES NOT COMPUTE

Why? Not precisely sure but in essence an error was made and was not recoverable when making an upgrade to the site, but because of the upgrade that error is no longer possible.

What's changed? Nothing; game's the same. All characters are at level 2 or lower though, favoring the 0s so it's a good time to rejoin.

The site crashed during the hurricane that hit Texas a few months back. There was no back-up of information for HMW so we lost all of our player information and old threads on the forum. Thats why the game was reset.

Code wise, nothing was changed to the game so it's the same was it was pre-reset. Just now we're all lower levels.

So if this is true, then the original level coding is still the same, right? Then why do we not have level specific battles (0, 1, etc), instead of only mixed (0-2 mishmash example) missions?

The game is not really the same: the alt. classes got a complete re-structure, there's a lot more of the alts now than there were before the reset.

(sadly, there's no cheap strafer - avoider class)

Yes - that is totally changed. The alts are much more "balanced" - but that does mean there isn't anything cheap anymore.

I mean the game code itself was not changed, like additional tactics, damage change, etc. When the server crashed, all the information was lost. The game CODE itself was was not changed, but the information like our bots, were lost. The alt-mode reclassification is/was to help with Mkall's tactics and future changes/balance. That doesn't change the code of how the game actually works and thank you Mkall for putting hard work into something he felt that needed to be done.

Missions still generate as they used to and everything works or doesn't work the way it was pre-crash. The mission text and level break down is not exactly part of the code of the game itself. We had to redo missions which is why the mission levels are not the same as before. The text might be the same or the names of missions, but they had to be re-done. Weapon and armor information was also lost, but thankfully some people had kept records so we were able to recover most of if not all of the lost information to run the game as it was pre-crash.

So all in all, we lost everything except for the game code itself and we had to redo missions, armor, weapons, alt modes, etc.

er crazyfists....you might want to double check the tactic damages before and after the reset, they have changed.

I was under the impression that damage was not changed, but I could be mistaken since I didn't actually look at the code before and after. Thats something OS would be best to answer and not me, I'm not a programmer or a doctor.

Again, that was not the point I was trying to make. The point I was trying to make was that we had to re-add missions, and armor, and weapons. So if things are different WITH MISSIONS, it's because they are different than they were pre-reset.

i did point it out to mkall about a month or so ago. he said OS hadn't changed anything (but he could be lying) so they're either bugged now, or where bugged before. either way since the game's come back tactics have become alot more incnosistant as there lowe damage ranges have dropped considerably, overall rams lost about a 5th of it's damage, strafe's down about a 3rd.

Don't think it might just be the results of being lower levels? You know, less support stats and less tactic upgrades.

I would guess that it's one of the improvements that was lost when the whole thing went kablooie.

That or Tammuz is wrong.

No.

maybe, it was better before however, tactics are now too inconsistent 10str ram will do 8damage right now agaisnt a 0 end target.

Caelus wrote:That or Tammuz is wrong.

it's a possibility. but i never recall doing as little as 8% damage with 10str ram before the reset.

I think it was meant to be a hypothetical 10 strength.
