weapons question

Hi gang! ;-)

I was wondering. If one weapon has a damage rating of "Moderate to heavy", meanwhile another weapon has the same damage rating (moderate to heavy) - BUT - that second weapon requires higher stats - which weapon is better?

More specifically, the null rifle is 0/0 with moderate to heavy damage. BUT there are other weapons we can buy with the same damage range - BUT require higher stats. Does that mean the null rifle is not as useful at the other weapons that require higher stats?

the more stats the greater the median damage of a weapon is.

Yeah, I think it has to do with the amount of possible or average damage and recharge rate. When in doubt, go for the most expensive weapon that requires the most stats to "unlock"/use.

And don't trust the "verbal" damage ranges to tell you which weapons do "more" damage. Just look at the stat requirements. The stated ranges will generally give you an estimate of how far above and below the median the maximum and minimum damage for the weapon are, but since the categories are so large, they aren't reliable indicators of damage.

Weapon price is a useless indicator. I didn't take the time to balance the prices when I reformatted the weapons this time, they just have the arbitrary price designations from years ago. I might have put in the extra hour or two to do that, but I'd forgotten what it was like to not have 12 million energon.

The money from weapon sales go into one or more legal or illegal off-shore account that I may or may not be holding using a fake name or a real one.

Pft. If I you and running an illegal offshore account funneling money from here into it I'd buy a real hockey team. And if I were me I'd buy my weight in comic books.

Actually, considering how fast the weight of comic books ads up, it wouldn't really take a fortune to do that.

Unless your buying your weight in first issue pre-1950 autographed comics or something.

Or you're very heavy.

Edit: Also, are you counting the poster-card inserts and plastic dust covers?

AP - Friday Nov 7, 2008 - Nashville, TN. The NHL has approved the purchase of the Nashville Predators for an undisclosed amount to someone who can only be identified as Crazyfists. :D

If I'm going to use illegal money to buy comic books you can damn well be sure they'd be expensive ones. And in reference to the very heavy comment: No u. :P

*edit* No. I'm not even counting the bags, boards, and long boxes to store them. But they'd be purchased as well regardless.

yeah, but that's kinda another kettle of fish, even before the energon bug hit, we had milionaires and people stuck in the red. and that makes things very hard to balance nicely.

i would suggest you read this prior to spending anytime balancing the weapon costs

in the mean time bewtween when OS redoes the weapons system (it needs doing) and then i think a viable stop gap would be;

Energon Cost = ([FRPr*SKL]/[recharge rate])*1000

of course we have the big problem that as long as brawling is how it is, newbs are forced to have a weapon, and the SR weaponry has a much greater disadvantage.

that's why i was Haranguing OS to remove the eponential in its mechanic, and why i as so adamant that all weapons become NR.
