Energon

Is it me, or does Energon really not matter much in this game? You spend a bunch at the start to get everyone X-rays or Nulls, then two months later a few Brawns, Battle Blades, Electric Cannons and what have you for the guys with FP and/or Skill. Auto-CR removes the need to manually spend money to fix your guys up, and by the time armor becomes worth it in terms of stat points allocated and protection, you've probably got so much Energon that you might as well have an Auto-Install feature for armor and you won't even notice the dip in your funds.
It's ALMOST as bad as early Final Fantasies, except there were actually times when I didn't have enough cash to buy everything in the latest shop du jour. The only time I was ever broke was when I (stupidly) created 12 characters at the start to protect canon names (which I don't even use anymore) and didn't have enough to buy Guns for everyone at once. Half a day of handbag swinging later that problem was fixed.
Any plans to make Energon more relevant?

You can go play Battle Beasts Gambling, if it even still works, donate it to another Autobot, or save it for when Autobot Crack is reintroduced.

Yeah. It's this thing that you were able to buy and attach to a character and boost stats, lasted until stasis locked. Autobots went insane over it. Alot lost a lot of energon over them. They ran through the entire stock in a week. There were lines of Autobots waiting for a restock that went around the block. Threads begging for energon so they could get their next fix.

Ah, you perhaps refer to the MiniCrack?

Yep. Though you could kinda call them shrubberies too, since you put the transformers outtie into the minicons innie.

Believe me, energon will be needed once you hit the bigger Xp-levels. The codename is NR. That armor is a god amongst armors, deflects 90-95% of weapon attacks, and costs 1 million energon to install.

Burn, no game has ever had a viable economy, hell i don't think any economy has existed that's been viable, i hope if it is gonna happen someone will take the time to manage it responisibly and not just try doing it off instinct.

I understand the answer to this isn't wholly relevant to gameplay, but where does the energon received for fighting come from anyway? Is it that it's acquired through the areas where fighting occurs? Or is it magic energon dew that we happen to receive in proportion to our butt-kickery?
Would it make sense to have the energon acquired through fighting "accounted for"? Meaning it has a source - some allotment for the mission or even taking from the other faction?

technically via other players and spontaneous generation.
if you damage a level 2 you win the same energon as it costs them to repair
but yeah the avoids generate energon, as do mission wins, and over kills. oh and new teams.

Think of it as getting paid for working. You wouldn't go flip burgers at the King for nothing, right? The factions provide
energon/cash for putting your neck on the line. You win the battle, you get a bonus. You get the energon after the job is done, not before. Just like work. Most people in the military gat compensated,
we should too. The amount of energon acrued is a sign of status
and commitment to the battles.
-FIGHT!

Discharge i don't think you quite got what wingspan is getting at. rather than energon being spontameously generated by the game, as it is, he seeks to make it more a tangible thing, a certain amout exists, at least that's what i got;
in truth neither are entirely practical for a game
i provide the following

I think I did understand the question asked. And I thought I answered it with a response deserved. He wanted to know where the energon was generated from, right?
If your looking at it as each member in the battle loads up energon before they leave the battlefield then I guess it would be a little more difficult to explain. Was it scraped from raw ore?
I look at it as energon as a commodity where something simple as
cash is less neccesary and the need to refuel is at the top of the list, to a Transformer. You use up energon as you heal in the
cr chamber and what ever is left over can be traded or gambled.
The energon is generatd as a deserved bonus to your battle prowess
and is transferred into your Seiberton bank account. Does an
official name need to be given to this distributer?
For serious, in all sense of reality, this is a game,I just use a little imagination and fill in the gaps myself considering this is
fantasy based.

I never said anything about an economy.
Psychout's looking to get the bounty hunting stuff up and running, so there's a new way for people to waste Energon.
Silly people who read too much into my answers.

That posts tells me that you're secretly raising an army of crocodiles and kangaroos to take over your country. I'm on to you and I know you'll just say I'm reading too much into it. But I'm watching you.

Although I earlier said Peroni, I ended up sitting with some Guinness Extra Stout, and here's what I got for making the economy matter:
Phase One - Limit the Flow
Remove energon from the win bonuses
Change the forumula to generate half as much as it does
Monthly taxation - remove 10% of all funds at the start of each calender month, GMT.
Phase Two - ???
Mercenary accounts
'Whores will have their trinkets' (alts available for purchase)
Weapon degredation (if I could find my old notes on the mechanics I knocked up for this it'd rock, but the gist is that they get less accurate through use and need replacing with new ones)
Quicker armour install times, higher armour prices
Phase Three - Profit
Introduce bounty hunting officially
Tournament entry fees
Direct weapon sales, player to player
That's just a start. Some of this could be implemented now, I think, without needing coded.

i think i'd rather have huge monthly upkeep costs for weapons that actually have to buy new ones maybe like 50% of the monthly amount of energon from the increase in damage over brawling.

That'd work, any kind of upkeep cost achieves the same goal.

Want to spend energon? Customizable weapons. Add that and watch energon reserves go down to nothing.

Wait, this is a GAME?!?!? I thought I had 12 children!!!! ...

It would be good if energon didn't keep flying out of nowhere - because then the use of it would put any extra layer of strategery into playing.
Monthly maintenance fees (weapons and armor) would certainly counterbalance the spontaneously generated energon.

Wingspan, think of it as your cut of the ticket sales for the arena or, loot from the mission. No one knows how much treasure is out there and there always seems to be more to find.
But as Chaos said earlier; as the armours become more expensive you'll need all the energon you can collect.
