Faction Threads

Hey powers that be, since the faction forums are down, could we please get a temporary substitute, e.g. stickied faction threads?
Would be nice to have a place in the HMW Forum where we can talk to each other.

HOPEFULLY, they won't turn into a mess like the other attempts to make an "official" Autobot thread.

It's just Iacon that's down. The other factions work.

Most of the posts that are made in the Autobot thread that aren't made by Autobots are us calling you out. And therefore relevant to the thread.

Well, I wouldn't mind a Max, Pred, or Con popping in an 'official' thread once in a while to shoot the breeze or post links, but not to the point where they outnumber the Autobot posts. 8-}

It's not our fault your faction refuses to participate.

Participation is key to conversation.

Given the quantity of Bots playing - and Bot victories which DO occur - it is surprising more posting is not occurring. I will however point out that Hellraiser's "AUTOBOTS!!!" thread was a battle cry and no other faction should be dinged for participation.

I don't think the stickied faction threads are that high a priority; the things I want the Pred forum for are faction strategy, ideas, and build experience - things I won't discuss openly with all 4 factions so it won't be posted in GD.

However I would love to see more Bots floating around; I kind of wonder what's happened to some of the old-hats whom I kicked around way back when in the bootcamp and minicon hunting threads.

Solar Cat as far as I know left
Hoistimus doesn't post on the forum boards
Z-z is a pred.

uh... most of the others quit, left the boards, or are just inactive. A better question would be what happened to the newbies who had joined and were heavily posting?

No. Because if a Predacon thread was started we wouldn't complain if non Predacons posted in it.

Nah. I was pretty mellow with my taunts. You should see me with my friends IRL, or on other websites.

I think that has a little to do with things, as some people tend to not know when to quit (but as I keep saying, if people are getting offended it wouldn't hurt for them to try talking to the person doing the offending either)

But it's been a common thing for Autobots to not be very active posters.

What i'm about to say is an honest opinion formed from my time here over the last 5 years and is NOT meant to incite a flame war.

The "evil" players ('Cons/Preds) are more laid back and don't take the game too seriously and enjoy to have a bit of a joke and actually see the merits in not taking the game too seriously.

The "good" players ('Bots/Maxis) tend to be more serious and from observation, a little too sensitive. Which I feel is the main reason we have so few "good" players posting as their definition of "fun" differs greatly from that of the "evil" players.

Take Deadpool./Den-O/Absolute Merc/Not-Travis-Bailey's latest sig for example.

2. Always use lame reasons to challenge people to 1-on-1 competitions.
3. Do not attempt to humourously respond to Bot signatures, instead bitch and copy the format of the Bot's signature. AND misspell "humourously".

I don't know if that's suppose to be funny or if he's trying to piss people off. I mean come on, outnumbering occurs to ALL FACTIONS. It just happens at different times of the day. I truly cannot understand why people are so stupid to think it only happens to them.

There is no such thing as a lame reason to challenge someone. A challenge is a challenge as they're all meant in good fun.

And the third point ... well if that's an Autobot's humour I think we can see the wide variance in humours across the board here.

MOVING ON!

Another trend i've noticed is the "good" players tend to be more selfish with very few of them being interested in improving the game for the greater community. The majority seem intent on doing their own thing.

I'd love to see more Autobots posting on the forums and joining in the sillyness, after all, it's a game that's meant to be enjoyed, and as Microsoft like to say "it's good to play together".

Now if you'll excuse me, it's my turn in the dark room with Tammuz.

While what Burn says is true now, I don't think it was always this way. I remember back in the day Bots and Cons had a faction thread in GD. It basically was just a 20+ page thread with spam in it and mission back-up requests. Both sides were active posters. Then something happened and over time things just changed into what they are now.

I don't think we need to re-live those days and hopefully the faction forums permission issue will be fixed at some time.
